Can anyone recommend somewhere other than History Preservation or Aero to get a high quality B3?

I got my lady the peep-toe scrunchy ankle boots in white for like 4 bills on the corner, because they were $1600 here. Guess how much leather jackets are here....

Where can I find a slim fitting DR that is similar to TOJ price and quality?

Check out Lad Musician, seen one recently on yahoo auctions for around $300. With your budget it'll be difficult but for your sake hopefully you don't eat much because finding a larger size on Japans used market will be difficult but not impossible. You can always find TOJ on B&S tho.

^ The stock sizes don't fit me since I need a jacket with larger shoulders and less of a chest, so B&S might be hard, but thanks for the suggestion!

I've had one of their jackets. Leather felt a little nicer than I expected, lining was crap. Fit was really weird, skin tight in arms and long blousy body. Seriously just save up for a nicer leather, should be one of the most expensive clothing purchases you make.

When you say you don't want Aero or HS is it a brand thing, a time thing (in case of Aero's long wait), a money thing, or a website thing?

Off the top of my head, I would say Eastman Leather (American or RAF B3s):

But Eastman is carried heavily by HS (in addition to Buzz Rickson), so that may not work.

Legendary USA is an option:

As is US Wings:

And if you have a shit ton of money, Ralph Lauren Black Label has come out with its version of a B3:

It's a money thing. Aero and Eastman seem to run $1000 to $1500. I appreciate that it's "worth it" in the sense that the quality is incredibly high, but I don't want to pay a premium for the effort it took them to make the stuff WW2-correct.

This a quick review about the recent one I copped.

The leather itself is supple, not sure if that's a good thing though as I was hoping for more of a stiff/worn look but I am sure that effect could be achieved through washing. It very shiny/glossy which makes it look cheesy and gives the leather a rubbery-pleather look. I was also hoping for a more of a dry wrinkled effect like the RO version but again I think this is something that could be achieved through washing and drying in it the sun while in a twisted state, if that makes any sense.

Another thing that I do not like is how it drapes. This was one of my biggest concerns aside from the color. The fit is fine but the leather and lining is too heavy/bulky and does not allow for it to drape the way that the RO version does, particularly the collar, but I think that washing and drying it in the sun would also help it drape better.

The color is also a lot lighter than I was expecting. Not horrible, but it takes some getting used to. It looks a little feminine, which is that last thing I want. There are a few imperfections (paint spots and a slight scratches) on the collar, sleeve and inner zipper which are hardly noticeable but nonetheless there. I think the paint spots are the areas where they tested to dye to ensure the right color, as they are a darker shade of grey. I would like the color to be darker, but lighter may not look bad either. I think the biggest problem I have with the jacket is that it is how shiny/glossy the leather appears.

I have no complaints about the cut. It is perfect. It fits great everywhere, but it will probably stretch a bit which is another good reason to wash and dry in the sun as I have read that extreme heat shrinks leather significantly. I think BS does a great job of mimicking the cut but failed to take into account the treatment process that RO puts its leather through in order to achieve their look, feel and fit of their jackets.

And last but not least pictures in natural lighting.

This is what it looked like after i washed it
