Looking for some advice on the best way to clean a leather jacket at home. Got splattered by some mud and managed to clean off most of it with damp cloths and a little bit of detergent but there's still a few light marks remaining. I was thinking going over it again with a brush this time and a bit of detergent. Any better ways? I want to only send it out to be cleaned as a last resort since I've never used any leather cleaners near me and don't know if they're reliable.

Also, should I apply some Obenaufs Heavy Duty LP afterwards?

From experience with 3 RO (1xFW08, 2xFW10), I would want the shoulders to fit. I had one of my FW10 that I had to sell off as it was too tight in the shoulders.

If you haven't tried a RO before, in my limited experience they fit a lot bigger in the shoulders than the measurements would indicate.

I tried on one of those new Rick shearlings yesterday, and they are nicer in person than on internets, but rick has ONCE AGAIN made the arms of his shearlings way too small. I wear a 48 in his leathers but could barely get my arms halfway into the 50 shearling. There was no 52 to try on but I suspect that even if it fit in the arms the body would be corpulent. Just like last year's shearling. I have no idea who can wear these clothes. Ridiculous.



@ Gettoasty, Rick fit is trial and error, mostly error. Buy in person or be prepared to return or flip it if it does not work.

^ I've got the short collar moto size 48 (M) from last year and it is pretty snug. I think it's like 39" chest, 16.5" shoulder. I can just wear a tee underneath. I tried an Intarsia in size 50 (L) from this current season and it was only a little bit larger.

I can't remember where I found this, but I like it. Don't think I'd wear a suit and tie underneath though. smile.gif

I´ve worn leather jackets over blazers. Don´t know if I´ve pulled it off but I was thought I looked alright. The blazer needs to be a tad shorter than regularly and the jacket must be of standard length for it to work, like in that pic basically.

I've been contemplating picking up a brand new Margiela 5zip for quite some time now, but I feel like all the ones I've tried on are pretty boxy...can anyone comment on this? Really trying to get this fit, but can't seem to make it work with the current 5 zips I've tried on...

That, plus frankly a leather jacket for wearing over a suit needs to be a bit larger, so it tends not to work well without a jacket underneath.
