Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned? - Page 244

I'm aware of the separation between thing and man, here; the constant, passive proselytizing is, however, both a source of discomfort and a bit disturbing. You can rip of the tag, yatta yatta yatta, and it's not like the putting on the jacket instantly makes you a child of jesus (nor does it make the jacket look any worse from the outside), but still. Maybe "dealbreaker" is harsh - it's not like I have a fear of the thing, but I do have an inescapably visceral reaction to the dogma. Honestly, if I didn't browse SZ and read all of his posts, I probably wouldn't even equate the tag with religion. Obviously, I've never met the man, and from the little that one can glean from forum posts, Zamb sounds like good people and all that, and he makes interesting clothing. I'm all for disassociation, but I'm also just not sure why it needs to be a central part of a brand image (perhaps it's not ought to be?). It's simply a touch that I could do without.

how about 'Temple of Jawnz' ? (I'm an atheist btw)

Ground zero of learning how to dress yourself is buying the clothes and not the label. Brands should be used by producers as a means of organizing vision and used by consumers as a nebulous indicator (but not guarantee) of craftsmanship. That's all. One springs from the other, but judging art by the artist is silly. It's like saying Hemingway's marriage affair cheapens the worth of his literature.

it would if he signed the drawings with a depiction of his mistress's vagina

If Hemingway were an artist watermarking things with his mistress's vagina, it would. If he was a writer doing the same, it wouldn't. ZB is the latter case. Until he starts making leather jackets with the face of Jesus adorning the back, who gives a shit. Being label blind should work both ways. If you're not going to wear jackets because Brad Pitt does, you shouldn't not wear them because Pol Pot did. Edit: The above analogy is difficult because it turns out very few dictators had good fashion sense. Go figure.

A lot of dudes on SZ wear those CCP jackets because Brad Pitt does, though (0) And then they act offended that Hollywood is on their fashion turf.

I am thinking about this jacket, not so serious yet tho.

what do people think about rick with moto collar rather than larger intarsia-type collars?

You know, I like them, but combined with the intarsia it always reminds me just a bit of:

Agreed the only rick jacket I'd want is an oiled calf intarsia moto. Could be in various color ways though... black or grey/dust or one of the pearl/white colorways.

RFX yeah that jacket is absolutely the thickest leather I've encountered. I doubt you could float it in cali summer nights except for somewhere that's perpetually gloomy like SF ;p Definitely not in socal.
