Here is your answer regarding Albert's use of elephant for various items.

Took quite a while to finish the construction of this piece.

The leather is several decades old elephant leather acquired from the family of a man named Eric Wagner who was a big game hunter and also a well-known conservationist in Zambia. He had a safari outfit out there called Nugmu Safaries out by Victoria Falls.

He has been written about in a number of books including a 1984 memoir by Peter Capstick about his time in Africa with Wagner and others.

The hide was taken from a culled elephant from one of the Zambian preserves and is similar to how elephant hides are made available for bootmakers etc. these days, except this was was shot by Wagner.

The hide was prepared on-site and natural tanning and dye techniques were used in the processing of the hide resulting in a unique gray tone with hints of greens and natural colors. As this was a hide processed outdoors by locals, there are sections of dye irregularity which are to be found on the bag. To me, this serves as a reminder of the story behind the material.

Just look up Collateral Concepts first through fifth iterations, to see all his work.

Looking at that jacket is the first time I've felt dirty owning and fetishizing leather.

Tried on the margiela 5 zip today. It was perfect. Too perfect. If someone wants to sell a 50, I will probably buy instantly, preferably black.

Yup, it's a great jacket. Very versatile. Was it the current season's version you tried? In calf?

Im currently selling this BNWT Belstaff Leather Racemaster XS image.jpeg 739k .jpeg file image.jpeg 952k .jpeg file image.jpeg 901k .jpeg file image.jpeg 344k .jpeg file image.jpeg 360k .jpeg file for 700(RRSP 1775). Here are some pics. image.jpeg 604k .jpeg file image.jpeg 609k .jpeg file image.jpeg 479k .jpeg file image.jpeg 670k .jpeg file

Softest leather jacket I have ever seen. And, it's Belstaff, so there's that. Really cool jacket that you will bring out for the best of the occasions. Bought it this summer from SSENSE but never wore it. Size very rare, IT44(US 34). Slightly larger for me as I am thin and not really tall. I like my leather jackets to be like a second skin so my loss is your gain.

Size specifications:
Chest-19.5
Shoulder-17.5
Length-26
Sleeves-26

Shipping is 30 in US, Canada and others I'll have to find out.

Yeah, the calf one. They also brought out the last season model, which had more of a matte finish. I prefer this seasons, and I found one that might be worth buying (although its older). Thoughts: http://www.ebay.com/itm/182151072671?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Does anyone have information regarding the differences between seasons for 5 zips? I would appreciate it.

So I bought the elephant jacket
I have been looking for my grail light color CCP semi armhole for so long that I don't think it's coming so I just thought I'd get it

And holy fuck it's amazing

From a normal conversation distance it looks like a distressed/dirty beige or grey regular leather jacket

Get up close and it looks like no cow or horse that's ever lived

It's actually a very wearable cut, and despite the stiffness of the leather it sits pretty well straight off the hanger but the shoulders probably need to smooth out and settle a bit you can see they're a little stiff
The sleeves however are tight and stiff and really need some heavy duty breaking in : I'm not sure how long that is going to take with elephant

African and Asian elephants are endangered species and you're an asshole for owning that jacket.  Wear in bad health, motherfucker.

look up moral relativism gentleman
An elephant can't be worn but a cow can ?

You're outrage is unjustifiable since you are posting in a thread dedicated to the skins of animals

Anyway the thing has provenance as described by the poster above
Better to have just let the carcass rot in the sun ?

Look up reading comprehension, dumbass.  I'm not talking about the act of wearing animal skins as leather.  I'm talking about the act of wearing the leather skin of a critically endangered animal.

There's no moral equivalent between wearing the skins of cows versus elephants.  Cows aren't an endangered species, but elephants are, so fuck off with your pretentious bullshit.  That jacket is fucked up and only contributes to the depopulation of an at-risk animal and you're a fuckboy for bragging about it.

I don't recall the entire post in SZ especially it was removed but if I'm correct, the elephant, where the hide/leather the jacket was made from, died from a natural death.
Elephant conservation took a weird turn when the elephants themselves overpopulated and destroyed the environment.

Also if the elephant is dead you might as well get the leather, its not like the elephant was killed solely to make a leather jacket
post #15989 of 16648
TBH, the greater crime is how ugly that jacket looks.
i think the jacket is a size too big on him?
