It's hard to convey that finish online. Some of the aged leathers I've seen from them have this interesting crinkly effect. IMO, it's a slightly different look than the Falcon stuff.

Yeah, they are often glazed in some way. The bags are the same.  It's decent if you like the look.

Set the correct price once. Don't let this project mimic the Vanson project where they decided to raise the price 200 dollars or something after a few weeks. It just leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth

I hear you loud and clear.

That project, I acted more as a consultant.  This project, I have an actual stake in, and Ashish has given me the final say, so yes, that is something that will be set.  However, there will very likely be an introductory price for either X amount of time or X amount of goods, to get the product into people's hands, and thereafter, the discount will expire.  This is pretty common at the onset of any project, and is meant to reward early adopters who take a chance on a product.

Anyone have good tricks to telling apart high quality leather from lower quality ones?

Kind of depends on what sort of leather you're looking for. Some "rules" for a certain kind of leather won't apply to another genre.

If you have a certain style you like, people in this thread might be able to give you recommendations though.

I was talking to some Matthew Miller peeps about their jackets, and they mentioned they use boiled (cow) leather in their SS riders. Anybody got experience with boiled leather? It sounds funny to me, but it sure looks good, debatable grosgrain pulls aside.

They've got a pressed cow that looks really nice, too, and the construction on the one I tried was really solid. The non-gaudy FW stuff is too heavy and padded for SoCal, though.

Really interested to see the Luxire DR... not fond of Falcon's belted DR design personally. Keep us posted!

I was wondering if someone could identify the brand of the leather jacket shown in pictures one and three of this link, the jacket with the white lines around the chest pocket zips... apparently it is from a Japanese brand... couldnt find pictures when it is shown better..

to add,

the vanson jacket project set everyone up for a long wait. i completely understand that they created a new leather jacket and had fittings, etc. but they totally over promised on the delivery and people waited for a long time

Vanson works slowly.  It just does.  I'll work with Ashish on a reasonable timeline for delivery though.

I felt that it was more about setting the right expectation. I believe the vanson project stated something like 3 months which turned into 9 months wait. I wouldn't care about that had i been told up front you'll have almost a year wait time. I wait for my CCP and knowing its gonna be a while is fine with me as long as i know to expect a long wait.

I know at this point we are all tired of double rider but I just got this one and really love it, no impractical belt and loops.

I have the sample in my office, hanging up.  I'll put the thread up when I have both samples (rider and moto), and when I have a more definitive timeline and hopefull, prices.

CHeers,
