Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned? - Page 1006

i dont think it will alter the fit dramatically. it'll just be a little looser depending how thin the new lining is.

some brands offer different linings in jackets...they dont change the patterns for this.

strongly disagree

ok, no worries.

i've changed linings in jackets before. (myself. by hand. piece of piss). had them changed by the same factories producing the original jackets too.

i know brands dont change the patterns depending on linings.

Looks lame and made in China, if that matters.

Great looking Neil Barrett jacket. Anyone know what hide this is? Strikes me as Bison? Goat?

Disagree with what? What he says about the fit being different? Or about the pattern? Or both?

To clarify, what I am thinking about doing is keeping the original lining, but getting rid of the wadding attached to the backside of the lining fabric.

i've done that before also (although on an old jacket so the wadding was quite worn / bit sparse in places).

took a very long time because on the ones i did it on with the diamond quilted lining, the stitches on it were what was joining the two together. so you could pull the square / diamond piece off but then there'd be bits of fluff under the stitch lines.

i'd imagine its only the body that has this lining and the sleeves are thin lined / not padded lining?

i have done this  LOTS of times (changed / altered linings) and i dont think it messes with fit too much.

maybe you know already but just undo the lining seams running from armpits to hem...its easier to close back up.

Cheers. Yes it is only the body that has wadding - I won't mess with the sleeves at all.
