The average Swedish guy is a relatively athletic and long rectangle, maybe they're nationalistic about cuts. smile.gif

lol.  Probably.  That said, the jacket also looked really wierdly angular on the Mr. Porter model, and I'm sure that that guy is also relatively athletic and tall and angular.

Fok just sell me one of your leather jackets, we're about the same size. I promise to beat it up professionally.

I have been on a bit of spree recently.  This is the second jacket this summer.  I went to Johnson's my last trip up and got my bison leather jacket (roughly a buco single rider) adjusted, and now it looks great.  Then it was this super heavy half belt, which my wife thinks looks totally rock and roll, and if I end up going to Paris next fashion cycle, I will wear it there and laugh at the the basics.  My next project, though, I am even more stoked about.  I am going a super heavy denim Type 3 vest, and having Johnson's put on 4 ounce vat dyed leather biker jacket sleeves and also covering the yoke and the front panels with the same leather.  Alan has met me and has adjusted a jacket for me already, so I'll trust him to do this up right.

Fok which one is your favourite jacket out of all of them? you should do a consolidated post on all the leathers you have that would be sick!

I wear my RRL gambler out of all of my jackets.  It's beat to crap and fits great, and it is this dark brown with a black brush on that brings out the grain more and more as it becomes more and more worn in.  I've dripped some shoe glue on it, so there are some small stains on the shoulder.  The buttons are tied on my leather strips.  Very cool jacket.  It's not the best made jacket, but it is incredibly designed.

I have maybe a dozen or so leather jackets, but I end up gravitating towards a few of them, on a rotating basis.

Maybe a short piece on leather jackets might be in order for a newsletter.  I know that a lot of people who are into leather jackets are really into WWII era jackets or older, but me, I love jackets from the 60s and 70s.  It was during that period that a lot of people started wearing leather casually, and a lot of jackets in the 70s, especially, have a slightly sleazy, Midnight Cowboy feel to them which I think is cool.

I am now just looking to get my first leather jacket. I have no idea where to start. Been looking at some Aeros since there is running thread here. Maybe a primer on leather jackets for the newbies may help. Popular brands, styles, quality check.

Just ordered a new jacket from one of the heritage brands still plugging away, Cal-Leathers of Ventura, CA. They are best known as the designers / producers of the original LAPD motorcycle jacket. I've ordered a Ventura, which is basically a combo of an LAPD jacket, with its banded bottom and ducktail back, and a cafe racer design, straight zip and plain front. Ordered it in 1.4mm chrome tanned cowhide, simple black cotton liner and fur lined cuffs. I'll use it mainly for riding. They will supply a denim prototype to nail down the dimensions before production.

If you give an idea of how you usually dress, your body type, and what other brands you like, it might be easier for people to help you.
