Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned? - Page 954

For u experts...I just got a TOJ off someone and it is tight around the waist/mid section. It is very heavy thick calf. But it hasn't had much wear at all. Is this good? Like will it break in and stretch a bit to a perfect fit? Or should I sell it

Ive been eyeing off a dark navy rider jacket for a while and sophnets new release looks amazing. How are they known for quality? At the end of the day i could just get a navy lewis cyclone and know it'll last forever but the sophnet looks so nice. Thoughts?

So I've been thinking about maybe pulling the trigger on a double rider jacket, but I am at a loss about where to start looking for good quality and slim patterns. I know about Aero and Lewis Leathers, but are there any others that can compete in the same price range? I will not use it for riding, only for posing (fashion).

As I live in the EU, I would prefer going through a maker here so I don't have to go through all the hassle of getting robbed by customs when buying from the US.

Yes, yes, I've been eyeing that one too of course. But, as I said, if I bought it I would get totally robbed by added duties and taxes.

I don't like the "skirt" at the bottom + I'm guessing with a color change and the recent price hike id be looking at $1000+ which with the current unspectacular aussie dollar is around $1300.

This is more my jam

So again - sophnet quality anyone?

Sophnet does a lot of collaborations, and for those, it's just the typically quality of the brand they have collaborated with.  I like Sophnet's designs, and have some pieces myself, but the quality is generally pretty indifferent.  The workmanship, materials, and trims, especially at US retail prices, is usually somewhat disappointing.  With the weak yen though, it's as good a time as any to buy.

I'm actually doing a jacket with essentially the same features (not unique to any brand) with Luxire that should be quite affordable, and I'm hopeful that Luxire will be able to get to a very good price/quality ratio as well as a good fit.  That is essentially a stripped down UK style rider jacket.  The classic American perfecto styles have epaulet/passants, amd typically also has a coin poclet and belt.   One of the most famous UK configurations is like the above, but usually with side cinches. I'm going to strip off the cinches for one of the "standard" sets of features.

Bump. Anyone?

Also, for a rider jacket according to the above, would the best way to go be through Aero or LL? Imo LL has more attractive designs when it comes to DRs. I am loving the two lightnings and the cyclone for example. Aero doesn't seem to offer anything without a belt unfortunately...

I bought this vintage Belstaff on eBay a while ago for about $200. Made when Belstaff was still a UK brand.

Lewis Leathers is probably the most famous UK brand for DRs. Worn by The Ramones, Lou Reed, The Sex Pistols, etc. Pretty much the classic rock 'n roll DR, although you kind of have to embrace that look to make it work IMO.

There are also all those Japanese repro brands like The Real McCoys.

Based on what I've heard, Lewis Leathers have lost a step. I'd go with a custom Aero or something like The Real McCoy.
