Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned?

Thanks for the comments on the fit, it's just that it feels very tight, I'm not used to that. The problems are it is hard to zip up and I feel pressure in the elbows when I bend my arms.

if you think it's too tight exchange it for a size up, it wouldn't be much of a difference.

Is it too tight or the arm holes are just higher than you are used to? That was my initial reaction to Rick Owens, I mean there will be resistance when you move for sure because that is how it's cut but sometimes it is just getting used to the higher armholes.

When you say it is hard to zip up, is it because of how tight it is? From the pics, it really does look like a good fit and sizing up can just make it look worse, which is a risk if you aren't getting the same jacket from the same season.

I have to pull the jacket up a bit because the "Rick's Jacket" is cut a ltitle longer than the others I think. I couldnt zip it up around my hips, have to zip it up around my waist. However when the "zipper is in" I can pull it up pretty easy.

Having it zipped up it just feels a bit restrictive. However I love the fit on the shoulders.
I think 1 - 2 cm in the chest and 1cm in the forearms would help.

What exactly do you mean with "higher" armholes?

RFX, I saw some pics of your RO Jackets in WAYWT and I think they fit looser on you right?

Higher armholes means the armpit opening is usually smaller so it rides up a bit and it feels more restrictive/tight than usual in the armpit and chest area.

If the only problem with zipping it up is that you have to pull the jacket up above your hips then that sounds normal. I probably do the same thing and never even noticed I do it. It looks like length isn't an issue anyways once all zipped up so it shouldn't be an issue.

I really do think sizing up will just ruin it unless you plan to layer with it.

Ah I see what you mean with higher armholes. I have another leather jacket (nothing fancy, from a local brand) and while it is way more loose I have similar restrictions when raising my arms, i think that's due to the high armholes.

However the biggest problem is the bending. When I bend my arm, for example when I move my hand on my shoulder I feel a very high pressure around the elbow, is that normal?

Thanks for your help RFX, would you mind posting a picture of you with a zipped up jacket? I would really like to see how it looks on you, in your WAYWTs you wear your jackets open most of the time. AFAIK you own a "moto jacket" and/or "intarsia", one of those would be perfect

The pressure in the elbows are normal, I think, if you look closely in worn RO leathers the elbow tends to have some stretching that makes it slightly protrude/stick out (a bigger problem on thicker leathers like oiled calf). You can kind of see it slightly sticking out in the elbow in this pic, that isn't just from stacking on the sleeves.

These are probably the best pics I have of RO zipped up and you can see it fits much tighter on me 9especially the sleeves), which is how I like them to fit.

Thanks for the pics! Don't know if I'm blind but as far as I see your forearms have more room? On my jacket the sleeves on the forerarms are skin tight, they could not be any tighter, there is no room. The moto jacket and the light colored one look similar to mine and I like the look too. I was just a bit nervous about the restrictions in movement. However the first jacket you posted looks more loose especially around the sleeves. I think it's more comfortable to wear.

The first leather (oiled calf intarsia) is my thickest leather from RO and it does look a bit more loose on the sleeves but it really isn't that loose, it is probably my biggest fitting RO along with the Mollino, which just has ridiculously long sleeves.

On the other 3 pics, the sleeves are tighter on me from the upper to lower arm, that is why I thought your sleeves were a bit weird because your forearm fits much tighter than the bicep area, I'm really not sure why though. Even the oiled calf intarsia is consistent with the sleeve sizing from the upper to lower arm. Maybe you have Popeye forearms. :lol:

Kidding aside though, that will likely stretch a bit and it doesn't look as drastic in the second pic as it did in the first.

It doesn't look exactly like this in real life like in the photo. The biceps area acutally isn't roomy, it is however not as tight as the forarms. I think I'll have to get used to the tightness and the restrictions in my movement, because I don't want a jacket looking oversized. I think the RO cut doesn't work good when worn loose. However I hope the jacket will get a bit more comfortable over time.

Can you tell me what's your height/weight and what size you are wearing?

It's been in the low 40's in Seattle lately and I've been wearing nothing but short sleeve tees + leather jackets. Feels plenty warm to me. I must be acclimatized to this type of weather.

I really like how you can choose to wear leather jackets nearly year round here if you want. If I lived in LA I fear I would have to largely forgo wearing jackets and thus become bored fashion wise. I suppose one could wear lightweight (non-leather) jackets, but I honestly never felt they look as cool as more substantial jackets.
