Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned? - Page 940

definitely keep as-is

Couldn't find an answer on this -

I bought a Faun SS15 Sternberg in Lamb from Farfetch ( It was very distressed and completely different from what I received) only to have actually received Faun Sternberg in Kangaroo according to tags. Obviously a mistake if so, but a few things concerned me..

The tag doesn't quite stick out like other RO products where there is ample length in the two tabs and the garment tag sort of dangles. they're sort of stitched right onto the seam.

also, 2095 EU roughly translates into 2300 USD which seems awfully inexpensive for kangaroo at list price. Thats lamb pricing for sure.

A few more pictures to show the thinness and leather. I don't have much experience with Rick Kangaroo but to me this smells and feels like other lamb products.

Anyone have any experience with this leather? The jacket is thin as paper (even thinner than the lamb glass ice) and light as a feather. Almost seems too delicate. Could this be a factory defect or mistake ? Does kangaroo usually look like this?

Thanks for your help everyone.

Right shoulder looks real weird for some reason though, looks like he's missing a shoulder or something. Seam sits way lower.

I agree, it does look weird in those pics. I think the reason is that I am lifting the other arm to take the photo, which shifts the jacket over to the other side. Also, I have a dropped shoulder on that side, and sizing down wouldn't take care of that unfortunately... Anyway, the shoulder doesn't look like that when I use the jacket.

Hi everyone, been lurking for a long time for random references in clothes, but never bothered to join.

I have been thinking about buying a leather jacket for some time, but I don't want to spend too much, as I would not get to wear it very often because of the climate of where I live in (it is very hot most of the time).

Everywhere I search I only see jackets north of $750, and I would like to know what is available to buy for about $400, $500.

Of course I am aware that quality comes at a price, so I know that for $400, $500 I will not get the same, but I need to get an idea of how good/bad it would be.

I am looking for a black double rider style jacket (TOJ Double Rider or even minimalist double rider would be my choice, but well...). Will not be used for actual riding, so slim-ish fitting and not boxy.

I don't have a problem in buying used, but I have a very small and slim build so I have a hard time finding XS or whatever and I also will not be in the US for long (17 days or so), so if available in Manhattan and I don't have to wait too long it's definitely a plus - this is why I am mainly going for new.

Favorite styles, for reference, are TOJs I mentioned, BLK DNM 5, Schott 618, Rick Owens Stooges, SLP:

So far, the only one I found that looks interesting is the Straight to Hell Commando:

So, what do you guys think? Any other options out there?

Thanks.

So I've been eyeing the RO Bauhaus. Can anyone whose familiar with the brand comment on the sizing and leather quality? Also, how hard is it to come Rick's jackets on sale in the elusive smaller sizes?

depends on the season and leather used

@dieworkwear I got a vintage horsehide A2 leather jacket off ebay (made in Chicago by Blatt, who I'd never heard of), quilted inside made it only wearable in pretty cold temps.

Beautiful coat but I wanted a thinner lining. Took it to a leather specialist here in Denver called Jonval Leathers & Furs, they replaced the lining and cuffs. It was a beautiful job, and ended up adding about .5" to the shoulders, also made it much more wearable. Came out better than new, and they even kept the inside coat pocket.

Here's a pic of the pre-relined coat:

I've had the earlier version of this Straight To Hell jacket. It's pretty nice leather, although not in the same league as Schott etc. The fit was OK but very very short. I believe they addressed the length issue with the version you posted above. Also if you're particular about your lapels, I really didn't fancy the way they sat on the jacket, very unlike Schotts. Also the fact that they had insulated sleeve liners made it a bit bulky in the sleeves. Having said that the sleeves are pretty slim and cut rather nicely.

The current Schott 626s are a bit long (I believe they're 27" now. The earlier versions were 26" and still felt a bit too long for me, and you won't get the slim fit look with the 618s off the rack, a considerable amount of alteration is needed (which I did to mine) I've been suggested to look at their 519 50s Perfecto, I believe they're cut rather slim and has a nice length with no poofy arm problems.
