wouldn't be surprised if those tech runners were better quality than actual Rick

probably that is about the correct price for a decently made stuff including a decent profit for the manufacture and the seller without big designer label behind it purposefully marked up price to limit their market segment :plain: to give false sense of extra quality and extra satisfaction from throwing much more money than others to have something other people can't have.

Tech runners are ok quality (say a nice Adidas shoe so very good in a sense) which means they're probably leagues above the cheap stuff you see on those sites. I'd say it is probably something like fake Nikes versus real Nikes: make a lot of diff if you've ever seen the fakes...

Hey, navetsea, any update on the jackets you designed? You said one was being made for your brother soon?

would be 1.4mm black cow, the front panels shaved from inside to make thinner & drape.

on separate project, I picked this greyish black goats, to make mine

a somewhat modern moto / cafe with raglan sleeve (Click to show)

Nice. I only have on TOJ and that's a BCDR.

edit: I see that the post I was replying to was deleted, so it doesn't make sense.

locally, but in this case, it just happened they (this workshop who make my jacket) have these old goathides in stock, and actually shown to me as we talked about my decision as an example how inferior they are to soft sheep hide, also they said these goat is "unfinished" the surface was not painted that is why they fade just being left in storage, so I took the bad example instead:p they are happy to finally get rid some of their " unfinished" goat nobody else want, and I'm happy to get instant worn look of a naked goat.

Any thoughts on this K Racer jacket by Belstaff? I think I like it, but I am unsure about the padding on the shoulders...

double stitches everywhere made it looks too busy.

I didn't even think of that. Good point. Thanks!

Ok,so I am looking to buy a cafe racer that's sleek looking without any extravaganzas. A classic cafe racer, basically. I won't go the MTM route this time around, so I am only looking at RTW jackets. So far, I've been thinking about Schotts 141 or 654. Any comments on these jackets? Or maybe something else that would maybe be an even better purchase?

Thanks for your help guys.

If you are looking for something that is for casual use only, Schott is a good buy. I owned a 654 and it was a pretty trim fit with decent leather for the money. Vanson makes some nice racers but they are much heavier leather and I wouldn't recommend unless you were going to be riding in it. You may be able to find Schott on sale and will have the ability to try them on and return them if you don't like the fit.

Thanks for the input. I forgot to mention that I will not use the jacket for riding, only for posing. wink.gif

Is it correct that the 654 is the non-riding version of the 141? And that the 141 is much heavier?
