Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned? - Page 893

Yeah I'd say it's as you pointed out, goofy collar -- cuffs a little long. Is that the guidi designed or collab leather? I forget who partnered with them on those... layer 0? If not it looks just as awkward as those jackets ;p

Collar would be the deal breaker for me.

Hooded jackets are awesome guys.... my fw13 plinth stooges is one of my favorite jackets. Its a taste thing i get it but if you wear it well then it kicks ass. same goes for buttons, i am not always a fan but that wouldn't stop me from getting something with buttons.

The jacket (Rick Owens Stooges Plinth FW13) turned out to be pretty freaking cool. Weight is decent, and jacket is soft with a stone wash finish.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Devoa hooded jacket

What does everyone think of this?

I kind of like it, but maybe the collar area looks a bit goofy and the cuffs

Collar area loks like the battle-worn labia of some failed '90s porn starlet.

I'm not a fan of RO, AT ALL, but that jacket really looks great.

i feel as though this thread has developed a great schism. One on side, you have what James Dean may have worn. On the other, things best kept in Jared Leto's closet.

Ha, I'm pretty sure that, if James Dean were alive and young and acting today, he'd also be wearing whatever things were kept in Jared Leto's closet.

That's taking a pretty big leap of faith, and I think you just proved the point of the original poster. James Dean was a "star" for less than a year, and much of what is attributed to him as part of his style was of course just what was handed to him by costume designers to wear in his three films. Otherwise, jeans, t-shirt and leather jacket, dangling cigarette, shawl collar tux, gray casual pants... not much else. His aesthetic was certainly simple, but again, we really don't have much to go on based on such a short time in the public eye.

I think we could use more appreciation of jackets that we wouldn't necessarily wear as individuals, but have other redeeming qualities that we can recognize. (especially as most modern leather jackets are just the evolution of more traditional leather jackets, whether they be flight, motorcycle or work jackets) We should be able to look both forward and backward, appreciating where we've been and where we're going...
