Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned? - Page 891

Ya, Langlitz doesn't really have many fashion oriented pics of women's jackets thus my trepidation. I'm hoping they can make a pretty light weight jacket for her that would break in pretty easily.

That being said I'm open to other suggestions if anyone has them. I haven't had much luck finding many reputable women's leather companies with a focus on fashion jackets.

Ocean Drive leather seem to do a lot of custom womens fashion jackets

I've never used them but there is another option worth looking into.

Awesome thanks, going to pass some of these by her and see what she thinks.  I always have a hard time going with a brand I haven't heard much about so I might dredge the internet a bit and see if I can find anymore info on them.

Additionally anyone have much experience with the Aero leather options offered through thurston bros?  I have a number of samples for a potential Board Racer I'm ordering and didnt know if anyone had anything glowing to see about a specific leather they offer.  Im leaning towards the front quarter horse hide as the sample I have is fairly light (which is what I'm aiming for).  The sample jacket I tried on was CXL which I'm used to seeing on boots, not so much on jackets, but it was nice if not a bit heavy for my use.

The FQHH that Aero uses is actually CXL, as is the Steerhide, unless you are talking about the new Italian HH. (see below) The Steerhide is heavier than the FQHH, which is still a very substantial leather. They do also offer a mid weight HH, but that's pretty rare. The tumbled FQHH is a little lighter than the regular FQHH, but just a little. It is also CXL that has been literally tumbled to give it a little more character and a softer feel from the start. Of a similar weight, but with much heavier grain is the Vincenza Italian FQHH. This is a stunning leather with beautiful grain, a nice drape from day one and is vegetable tanned. Next down would be the veg tanned goat, which is also still heavier than most fashion jackets, and will stay looking new longer. I have had or have Aero jackets in all of these hides except for the mid weight horse. My two current favorites are the Vincenza (mine is russet) and the goat (seal).

Let me know if you want pics of certain hides. What color are you looking at?

Interesting - I didn't realize the FQHH was also CXL, very different feel from the sample jacket Carrie sent my way.  I was thinking about going with the tumbled cordovan FQHH as it seemed like it would break it nicely and wouldn't be too heavy.  After quickly googling the Vincenza I'm intrigued, some of the pictures I see appear to resemble the tumbled FQHH.  How's the weight on the Vincenza?  I wish I had been able to handle some of it...

Vincenza is a similar weight to the tumbled, but more supple and with more grain. In the picture below, the tumbled brown is on the grass, and the Vincenza in russet is laying on top of it.

@MiamiLex I can help with a few of your questions.

I've got a board racer in the CXL steer. Great heavy leather but doesn't sound like what you are after. The Board Racer is a great pattern though, I love it. I posted a pic here a while ago if you want to take a look.
I've got a bootlegger in the tumbled cordovan from the recent batch. It is lighter than the standard FQHH they use and very nice.
I've also got a half belt in the Vicenza. It's probably a little lighter again than the tumbled FQHH, but only marginally and only if you are specifically comparing the two for weight. I'd probably recommend the Vicenza for a "lighter" jacket unless you want cordovan colour specifically.
While its lighter, it's stil a lot more substantial than every fashion jacket I've ever felt.

So, the Steerhide Canuck jacket that Himel Bros. has up on IG is just CXL? It's such a gorgeous jacket. I love the Cossack, too.

Does anyone have a Himel jacket?

Do you have a link? The Steerhide line from Himel is fairly new, just introduced in the last couple of months... don't understand "just" CXL?

Thoughts on this moto jacket? Horsehide Thedi Cafe Racer by Epaulet. New acquisition. Thanks!

Looks great. I have a Thedi, and I think their quality is top notch. Their horse hide is one of the most supple that I have ever felt (and it's still fairly thick, but more of in a 60s cafe racer type way, not in the modern 3.5 oz way), makes it one of my grab and go jackets. You also got a very good fit. The faux shoulder pads are a nice detail.

Sure! See the Canuck here:

And Cossack here:

I'm not positive, but I think the prices are a bit higher than other sources. I think a Himel jacket runs around $1300-1800. Still, love those two styles.
