I think they do this in some version every season (detachable sleeves version, regular, braided leather sleeves etc) so try contacting Phillip Lim stores or retailers if you haven't already done so? Im pretty sure I saw a version of this for sale in like early 2013, then at a different retailer in mid 2014.

My friend used to have one of these actually and i remember it being a sick jacket. Leather is really soft and supple and drapes nicely and feels almost weightless. Sometimes its nice to have a piece you can just throw on and look cool without thinking too much. Im surprised stuff like this isn't more popular than the leather straight jackets dipped in human piss and recycled condoms *cough* *cough* I mean.. uhh, CCP jackets.

Spence currently has a MMM 5-zip for sale in various sizes:

But what is up with that sleeve length? 56 cm on a size 48? That's just weird; I don't imagine anybody's arms are this short:

yeah, always like that phillip lim. could never find it though. the braided sleeves and other versions were a bit trendy / faddy. and they were the ones about.

plain soft one looked great.

My wife is currently fixated on the ToJ Women's BCDR. Rather than go down that messy messy road I was looking for alternatives with a similar aesthetic.

I've touched base with Langlitz about getting the Cascade with darting but they don't have any fit pics or samples for women. Anybody have any experience with Langlitz doing women's cuts? Or any other alternatives sub ~$1500?

I do know that Langlitz does a lot of women's jackets for their Japanese fans, and you can see a lot of examples on the various Japanese Langlitz websites. I can also tell you that the standard Langlitz measurement sheet does have a spec to add the dart location for building a woman's jacket. (see attached, if you haven't seen this already)

Alternatively, I would speak to Carrie at Thurston / Insurrection. She knows an awful lot about moto jackets, she wears them, repairs them, etc... and has fit a lot of women. She could have one of her suppliers make one in a lighter weight leather if it's going to be more of a fashion jacket. If nothing else, she can probably give some excellent advice about fitting a woman.

Thanks Chris,  you're as awesomely helpful as always.  I've touched base with Langlitz and they've been very accommodating.  From the few pictures I've been able to come across they seem to make a mean women's jacket.  Given that this is just for fashion my wife is worried about how it will sit on her - I may just force her to take the plunge, though I do wish they had sample models to try on.

Carrie is awesome I'm in the process of ordering a board racer myself but I can't convince my wife to go for any of the vanson or aero models.

The good part of her possibly using Langlitz is that she can specify all her pockets, or lack of them, pick her hardware color, add an accent pocket on the sleeve, etc... I'm pretty sure if she really emphasizes that it's for fashion only, and states how she wants the jacket to sit in terms of length, where the arms should end, and how tight it should be, they will really nail it for her. Also, with Langlitz, if there is something she doesn't love, just ship it back and they will fix it immediately for her. I have friends on other forums that loved their jackets, but had something that they just weren't comfortable with, and Langlitz fixed the issue at no charge with no questions asked. (expect for asking details on exactly how much they wanted off the sleeves, for example) I just got a steal on another Langlitz off of Ebay and will shoot it off to Langlitz for a quick repair if there are any issues with the jacket. (Columbia)

And agreed, Carrie is fantastic to deal with.

The problem is that probably 99% of Langlitz customers are bikers, both male and female. Thus, a correct fitting moto jacket is going to be fairly roomy. When a woman buys a fashion jacket from them, they aren't typically going to post anything on a fashion board. It's all about telling them what you want, they have no problem putting together slim fitting jackets for the Asian market, although even there the bikers prefer a more traditional cut. Just some examples of how they can modify jackets. (just as examples, let's not get distracted in trying to analyze them, I couldn't spend all night trying to find better examples)
