Are you serious or joking? I can't tell.

The Aero Board Racer in Horween's CXL Front Quarter Horsehide is a new slimfit offering from Aero of Scotland.  We thought we'd post it up here for StyleForum.net members to view...

@sinnedk where is that first jacket from? Looks quite good

I have the Gibson (not the murdered out one). It's very cropped and has a boxy fit. The leather is quite substntial and feels and looks luxurious. If you want a more boxy fit, go for it. If you want fitted, I wouldn't.

Hi guys, thinking about getting my first leather top but not sure what to look for. I have some idea of what design I want but that's it. Read about 50 pages of this thread, looked around and found these ones:

I read that the Julius design is tacky but I don't mind it that much, but sorta worried I will mind in the future. Leaning towards the RO lamb and MMM bomber but read RO leather varies a lot. Found that exact toj moto in my size but not sure if I like the zippers. Ideally I'd like to try things on first but the closest boutiques are too far away. Would obv prefer not overspending. Looking for something slim with minimal zippers, can't wait long enough till SF Vanson, need something before winter. Thanks for help.

think i like the incarnation best out of the bunch. it's on the less tackier side of the spectrum for their offerings... the overlock stitching may be too much for some.

if its horse leather then that'd clinch it for sure

leather looks really mediocre on the intarsia. none of the others are interesting to me personally

It really depends on your personal preferences. The Rick's jacket is probably most versatile imo (Lowrey has some good fit pics on SZ), although the photos make the leather on this one look super shiny. Check the season? Rick's jacket should be like ss09 or so I think.

The Julius looks pretty good too, if your build fits it (skinny). The price is way too high though.

Which Rick, the bomber or the lamb? Also what about the toj and mmm? I'm influenced by price, the toj is used and about $600, the MMM is $400. I'd instakop the Incarnation if it was like $1k less. I don't know anything about leather or design, just looking for something versatile that can dress up or down and that I can wear almost daily. I don't have a lot of ninja distressed stuff.

You listed 7 jackets and they are all motos or moto cuts. Its a mix between classic and modern so that would be the first decision to make then the amount of money to spend.

10sietto/incarnation are pretty distressed so your call
julius is listed on sf here http://www.styleforum.net/t/399395/0-99-auction-julius-7-ss12-black-calf-leather-moto-jacket-size-4
http://www.farfetch.com/shopping/men/rick-owens-bomber-jacket-item-10744676.aspx?storeid=9329&ffref=chk_bp_fn = intarsia not bomber
MMM is really bad imo
TOJ classified is closed so its prob sold

Up to $1800 for something good but would be nice if under or significantly under for something slightly less good. Would be wearing drapey plain tees or slim button ups, grey/white/black plain or schneider ones underneath with black jeans or trousers. If I can fit a thin sweater underneath great, if not doesn't matter. Either way I'd imagine distressed probably wouldn't go well with non distressed non leather stuff so I guess no to those. Prefer something slim with a small collar and minimal everything so like those I listed. There was a guy selling a similar TOJ who said it's still available, can't find the listing but have his e-mail. I assume it's the best price to quality item but I'm not sure if I like the breast zippers. Also not sure if I like the Intarsia cuff but I'm open to everything. Is the RO lamb from re-porter another Intarsia? If so, would I need to ask for the season too to know the leather quality? Thanks for responses.

The lamb Rick is not an intarsia, it actually is just called "Rick's jacket". No longer produced, it's medium height collar.

1800 is a lot of cash and you should be able to find something easily. What you can't do is have SF decide for you. Your tastes are your own and no matter what sf says you need to be happy with your purchase. What sf can do is help you decide between A and B but not ABCDEFG.

Narrow down your choices to what you truly like (sale, not on sale, super expensive, cheap) and drill down. Think about do you see what you like around? if not go custom, otherwise just pull trigger. Remember if you get a nice jacket with nice label behind it you can always resell if necessary. I know hassle but its an option.

All the jackets you posted save for a few are pretty nice, its your call. You made the call on distressed now make a call of modern (such as ro, julius) or classic (such as Vanson/TOJ). FYI i am only using your examples for now to make this easier. there are a LOT of good jacket makers.

I think this is spot on. In one sense it's nice cus with $1800 you can very likely get what you want but I don't think there's a clear option here other than to lurk and lurk and lurk and find out what you really like, even if at first glance it seems they're all 'moto' styles so they're similar the range of these jackets are significantly different.

I get that leather jacket season is about to be upon us so you want to make a purchase but unless $1800 is a trivial amount to you (it might be idk) I'd urge you to wait and sort of find the nitty gritty details on all those jackets and just sort of keep looking at jackets in general and what you like. This thread especially the last hundred pages or so has a lot of cool jackets but also, even though 800+ pages of 50 comments is daunting the ToJ thread can provide a lot of inspiration or at least a ton of jackets for you to discern what you like best, and before 2014 Drew actually had a lot of nice insight to a lot of the fit pics which can sort of shape what you see from the perspective of a designer.

I only have one leather jacket (hope to own more) and I never get tired of reading or talking about them.
