Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned? - Page 744

What's up with Rick pricing this season? Prices came down for awhile when some pieces started being made in Moldova, now they're back up and higher than ever...

Can't say quality since it seems there are good and bad quality every season (though dominated with bad quality than good) but maybe pricing on the leather he gets? Maybe it changes every season? Just guessing.

Could just be observational bias too, I don't check retail pricing every season. In AW 2012, leathers were a pretty reasonable $2000. Went to a preview the other day and saw the leathers you posted (the full grain Stooges was very nice), but prices began at $3000 and went to $5000+. To be fair, in 2009, prices were around there.

This is probably better suited towards a larger discussion towards pricing, but it's disconcerting being priced so far out of brands I'm interested in - PH, A1923, BBS, MA+ etc. have been raising prices consistently every season. Can't blame them, people are obviously buying buying. I thought Rick had made an effort to keep prices a bit lower with a production shift but here we are again. Oh well, still looks cool!!!

Not biased, I check it almost every season and there is a good 2-3 seasons there where the prices were dropping but so were the quality, I think Intarsia even dropped to around $1500-$1800 retail? 2-3 years ago used ones were almost a bargain at $1500 iirc. They've always had some outrageously price pieces every season though, shearlings almost always start at $5k+, though last falls might have started at about $4k? And who could forget the $50k SSense gators.

Looking at current season stooges that retail at $2500, it does seem like quality is the big difference, it looks like plastic and I'll gladly pay an extra $500 to get the other one I posted.

I don't think the price correlates all that much with 'quality' depending on how you define it. My rick retailed in the low $2000's and it's pretty thick washed lamb, at least as nice as the other jackets I've handled from various brands (other ricks / dior / SLP), some that were much more expensive.  I think certain treatments just tend to be cheaper.  Also my jacket is comparatively simple in terms of hardware, there's just a front zip, two slash pockets and zip cuffs (and the internal pockets), where a stooges would have 3 extra zip pockets, a coin pocket, and epaulets which might raise the price? I dono.

that thick stooges looks incredible

Anyone handled the current mmm navy 5 zip by any chance, I only saw like two posts about it a while back.

Hows the quality? I read somewhere someone said it was poo.... it be true?

Just a page back, very top jacket of that post. I think it's actually the last post of the last page.

So the FW 2014 RO stooges is cashmere lined and only $2500? Is it made in Moldavia or somewhere weird?

The thick leather does look a thousand times better. M
