But lamb has the obvious advantage of softness and drape; but what's the advantage of "naked calf"? Is that texture maintainable only through not treating it?

All leather shrinks, to some degree. Naked leather is only made from the best hides, with the fewest blemishes. How much a jacket will shrink depends on the animal much more than any surface treatment. Lamb shrinks like crazy. Calf doesn't much, unless you hot soak it. Horse will shrink only a tiny bit, ime.

For comparison, this is the standard calfskin (oiled?):

heavy calf: Looks a lot like (to my untrained eye) the heavy naked calfskin/cowhide that Schott uses for their bomber jackets. It will probably shrink considerably if caught in a heavy downpour.

Lamb Glass Ice (LGI), seems to be Rick's standard lamb. Feels like very fine grain glove leather with a finish.

Maybe this will help someone make sense of all the variants of the same jackets RO is putting out these days.

There's also the season-by-season ones like the stooges with the fur collar, or with the hidden hood, and a couple other variants I can't be bothered to google.

edit: I've heard the suede is awful recently. Buyer beware.

so where can i get this naked leather stooges? is it still around, i looked on far fetch and didn't see it.

Has anybody mentioned Christian DADA here? The leathers look great and though I haven't handled them in person, the price tag seems humble for a designer brand. Here is a pic.

Size 50.  That means it will fit anorexic pre-teens and anyone 30+ days into a hunger strike.

translation: ok for 36, questionably tight for slim 38
