I give ideas to my leather designer, and he produces sketches for me to approve, and different leather swatches, and makes them to my size.

I find this collaboration works very well for me..smile.gif

They're so amazing that you can't post pictures of their awesome fit otherwise we'd all lose our sight due to their sheer EPICNESSSSSS!!!

I've just commissioned a car coat in midnight navy gloving leather lined in cashmere.

Once it's sketched, made and I have it I promise to post at least a trillion pictures of me modelling it!smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

This is basically perfect.

Let's slim it down if needed and move that arm zipper to the upper sleeve (so it's not the same design!) and call it a day.

Double fucking 5 zip? That's just not fair.

Usually, collaborations are derivative from a given manufacturer's designs...for example, when fashion companies work with Aero, they use Aero patterns.  They just market the jacket differently...

On a side note, sometimes simple can be a good thing when it comes to leather jackets...our Aero Sonoma Racer in front quarter horsehide is our best selling cafe' racer jacket.  The Horween Chromexcel leather is very, very nice, and the design is very simple.

I much prefer the Fontana, which I ordered, and which I believe is exclusive to you.

The slanted chest pockets, Western yoke, and clean back with no kidney panel really does it.

Agreed.  Only thing I'd change would be to get rid of that arm zipper entirely and change the zipper toggles.  I like the plain YKK / MRS style zipper pulls.

Would probably purchase one for myself.  What are they lined with?

Personally, the Aero Fontana is my choice as well..very simple...

Either Black Rayon or Royal Stewart Cotton...at least those are the two standard liners...

You would need the arms zipper. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to get your hands to the wrist. These are motorcycle jackets. The MMM 5-zip is a bastardized version. It has bells sleeves. Real motorcycle jackets have tight sleeve ends for functionality.

To be fit perfectly frank, what designer collaborations have really done is to expose the fashion consumer to iconic designs by the use of attractive styling. The Lewis Leathers, Vanson, and Aero collaborations for Junya and Nigel Cabourn are all remarkably close to the originals.

I think they were referring to that single zipper on the forearm of the left sleeve.

Yeah, this - was referring to the pocket on the left forearm.  The MMM 5-zip has zippers at the sleeve opening, btw.

Yeah, my bad. And yes, I have a Margiela 5-zip. I was mistakenly just pointing out that the sleeves on those are atypical of motorcycle jackets.

I kind of like them. I'm not too picky with zipper pulls. I'd go with standard, but not the ball and chain.
