Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned? - Page 708

Haha if you could convince Vanson to make something similar to their Junya collaboration I'd imagine you could put a group buy together.

@Thurston Bros I agree with cyc wid it. If you guys could get some sort of group buy thing going with some Vanson jackets with more fashionable designs/cuts, a lot of users here would jump on board.

I'd want zips on the handwarmer pockets, but I might be in.

I'd potentially jump in as well.  I've been looking for a more classic jacket in addition to my rick moto and the only thing that really appeals is SLP, which is too expensive.

As long as we're not directly copying a Junya design, this isn't a problem.  While we can do pocket changes, zipper changes, gusset changes, etc. on any single custom purchase, we need 12-15 units to do a new design.  For example, we can do a Vanson Chopper with a chest pocket for a small up-charge on a single custom order, but to do a new Vanson design, we would need a 12-15 unit commitment.

With this said, it would be a lot of fun to do a StyleForum.net x Thurston x Vanson run of jackets!  We could have a cafe' racer design as well as an off-centered-zip ("rocker") design!

Nice.  Here are a few of what I'd consider "best in breed" for the rider-style jackets:

Key elements, in addition to the obvious leather quality: heavyweight chrome snaps and zips, rayon/cupro sleeve lining, zippered handwarmer pockets, either a coin pocket or a belt (or both), gusseted shoulders.  I personally prefer wider lapels and epaulets.

I think the trickiest part is probably going to be nailing the fit.

The fit is quite easy...most Vanson collaborations use the standard Vanson fit pattern.  However, they dress the design "up" to meet to meet their desired look...

Shit, get to brainstorming, guys.

I'd rather not have a jacket like the ones @KingJulien posted.  They just seem a bit far from the Vanson vibe, which feels more rugged

Then again, I wonder if Vanson would ever make a moto with a stand up collar :stirpot:

How long do you guys think it would take to get the first batch out @Thurston Bros, and is there a ballpark figure? Sorry for the peon-esque question, I'm on the fence to purchasing a jacket right now, so would like to gauge other options.

Once the design was finalized, we would need to get one sample made to make sure the design is to everyone's liking.  We would then put the run into the production queue, which is currently at about 2-3.5 months.  So, once a design was approved by all members involved, it would be 4-7 months...  50% deposits would be needed for pattern making...  I hope this helps...

If you guys replicate the junya x vanson cafe racer I'd definitely be in for a group buy. The off center cafe racer sounds hot too!

amen, would be so down for the cafe racer
