I think it'd be smart if he just ended MTM and started producing stock models (maybe with slight variations in length, like 46s with 48 lengths) and sold them for maybe $850-950 a piece, I'd imagine that'd be a much smaller headache and he'd sell them at a nice clip

He's not trying to stay in the struggle-saving-for-first-nice-clothing market. When he does capsule collections, they'll be more than the current offerings (regardless of retailer markup).

Really hope he holds off closing down taking orders until I receive my jacket (probably some time in 2015 lol) to determine if the fit is good. If the fits good, I'll probably instakop another one.

Well just browsing through my regular instagram feed recently I remember him posting some new clothing, new silver BMW, new rims, and some pictures of his cars in the garage. He definitely makes good money.

I think if he had some pre-made to set aside for people who don't want to wait, and charged and extra $150-$200 that would be a good idea. On the other hand the made-to-order is the best thing about TOJ, being able to get a custom-fitted leather jacket that is actually nice looking and modern at around $800 is a really good deal.

MTM is what he hates most about ToJ.

At the rate of 2 jackets a day (1 bomber, 1 rider), he's prolly pulling down close to a stack a day or a quarter mil a year.

Not crazy, but nothing to sneeze at considering he did no work for it this last year.

He still has to go source materials periodically, but yeah - it's not something he has to actively work on daily.

Arguably these are the primary features that made TOJ as successful as it is. It's a shame there isn't more of a compromise--such as an additional cost for MTM beyond body and sleeve lengths.

It seems like normal burnout to me. Which is why I wouldn't be surprised if he starts feeling more positively about the business again and decides to continue it.

I don't think I've seen LV sold on any online stores either, but that is probably part of their "exclusivity" branding strategy.

I browse a lot of online shop and don't think Ive ever came across one of them selling LV for men. I went to the one in King of Prussia a couple of times with my friend that wears a lot of rich kid mall brand shit, and there stuff is outrageously priced, there leather products are really nice though but I just don't like how the brand is recognized. Also the re-sale price of some items go for more then retail, which makes me think that they do limited runs of items, and don't have or only have a little online retailers? maybe some in-store limited items too.

LV men's wear is sold only at flagship LV locations, I heard they were adding LV men's wear to the Chicago store but I haven't checked it out. When I was at Harrods in London they had a large selection. Prices were pretty much the same as any other high end brand, most of it was sans branding and pretty low key. LV makes limited amounts of products, most shoes are 100-300 pairs worldwide. They don't sell much online even on their own website. At the end of the season SA are able to buy for a slight discount (20-30%), whatever doesn't sell is destroyed. The majority of their income comes from belts, purses, and wallets.

that's all they get for end of season discount? how do you know that? I'm just curious, but it would seem like that would be the SA standard discount. End of season sale is usually pretty substantial for employees... usually 70% and up in my experience. But I guess it depends on the brand. If you or someone you know ever SA'd at LV I'd be interested to know.

(fwiw my aunt is an SA at Hermes in NYC and a friend of mine is a manager at Zenga in LA... they get pretty wicked deals!!)
