BTW, I think a 1-star in the LA times is good IIRC. Not excellent, but just "good" per their scale.

My Persian friends like Shamshiri in Glendale (or Westwood) and while it's not like homemade they go there with the same enthusiasm.

Westwood has a bunch of good spots. I like Sherzhad. Also Flame persian is good too.
