yeah, i like clubs, but hate table service and bottles. but then, i tend to spend a lot of time dancing (poorly, but whatever), and if you're on the floor, there's no need for a table. i try to not spend too much money, so i basically just dance until an opening shows up at the bar and then get drinks.

yeah, i'm getting too old for this, though.

I go out to clubs, 2 or 3 times a week, I'm 23 years old and a lot of my friends go as as much as me.

never been to a club of any kind other than a golf/country club this past year.

I don't really drink, and i don't really dance... so paying a cover charge to be in a room full of strangers sober off in a corner not dancing seems stupid.

I would like to go to a cowboy club, the thought of chicks riding a mechanical bull always seemde facinating.

I used to go regularly, although it was more of a music thing and depended on who was spinning that night.

I was under 21 during most of the period in which I would have been interested in clubbing, and so I haven't been to all that many clubs -- mostly to ones in Chicago and San Francisco in the couple of years immediately following graduation.

On a related note, I was extremely into the rave scene during its heyday in the early '90s and went to parties pretty much every weekend. Because of my location at the time (college in NY, home in TN for breaks), I ended up making it to raves in New York, Toronto, Boston, Providence, Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee, Nashville, Atlanta, and elsewhere. It was a wild time.

Any other former ravers here??

My wife and I were talking about music this morning and realized that we hadn't been to any sort of music-related event (club, concert, DJ set, etc.) in probably six years!

I think I have a picture somewhere of me wearing tiger fur pants (with a tail), a cartoon tee and an authentic mickey mouse visor with a super cute 5' gf similarly attired. To my defense I was high the whole time. I also organized parties with Israeli psychedelic trance acts.

Never a "club" fan but I have been dragged to one now and then. I have never really enjoyed places where the goal is "to be seen" and the music is too loud to hold a conversation.

Nowadays I'm not too selective, as long as we can disrespect no-smoking law and the crowd is allright. I hung out at Socialista last time I was in NYC (like 3 months ago)...

+1. I don't think the swing dance club where I'm going tonight that prohibits smoking and has a "no alcohol" policy really counts.

My clubbing has gone down a lot since college and since having a steady girl (not as many nights out with the fellas) however I do get out every now and then. I'd rather go to a club and see a DJ than see some overpriced has-been where the peak of excitement is clapping along in your stadium chair from a quarter mile away. August 8th is the next big one, going to Cielo, NYC to see Steve Lawler spin. I expect to be up front.

I think there's more than just those two alternatives. I mean, there is nothing I love more than a pub with some live music. I even play myself, sometimes, if it's a ceilidh.
