Whole-cut shoes - Page 2

Has anyone seen a completely plain whole-cut from top English makers like EG, C&J, Grenson etc that is in production?
C&J have the Mayfair, which is a regular line model - it's in the 2004-2005 retail catalogue but seems to have been taken off of their website. Forum member MPS posted about a pair of C&J Handgrade wholecuts that he picked up from the factory shop in this thread. There's also the Hanover, which looks like a Handgrade model but I think is only available from C&J Paris at the moment.

Edit: BTW, and no offense meant to anyone who has/likes those AEs above, but those are truly hideous, IMO.
AE makes something even worse looking IMO; another somewhat similiar looking whole-cut to the one above, but in a derby model. Louie has some at Bennie's, but is returning them to AE.

Am I missing something? Why are the Stowes being referred to as wholecuts? Is that stitching on the side simulated or decorative only? It looks to me from the pics I can find that it is made of more than one piece of leather.

I have the C&J Mayfair. It is awesome. I got two pairs of C&Js recently, actually. Will post pics later tonight.

Here you go - the Mayfair and the Rochester. Mayfair with single soles, Rochester with double.

Wow, I love the Mayfair. Is it a C&J benchgrade, and is it still in production? I can't seem to find it in PLal's catalogue.

There's the strict definition of a wholecut (upper cut from one piece of leather), and there's the loose definition of a wholecut (throat cut from the same piece of leather as the vamp). The Grenson Stowe is a wholecut in the loose sense. Your eyes don't deceive you: it has one piece of leather for the vamp and throat and one piece for each of the quarters.

kolecho - I got it from PLAL. Last I heard, they had one pair left in 7.5E with double thick soles. I'm not sure when they were made. And, I'm pretty sure they are benchgrade.
