I'm just trying to illustrate a point.

I do like to argue though. It makes me look bigger when the other party is standing in the ditch they dug for themselves.

I've always "heard" they were good for you. Here are my google results:

"Roughly 50 percent of the fat in peanuts is monounsaturated. Unsaturated fats can help lower LDL cholesterol (the "bad" cholesterol) levels in the blood without affecting the HDL cholesterol ("good" cholesterol). Research shows that people who eat a greater percentage of monounsaturated fats lower their risk of heart disease, asthma, Alzheimer's disease, breast cancer, and even depression."

so you would argue that the monounsaturated fats in peanuts, in small amounts (i.e.: no more than 2 servings of nuts per day) would be detrimental to someone's health and not beneficial?

Thank you IUtoSLU. This 'healthy fats' craze is perpetrated by that study and it's another case of people misreading conclusions and not understanding nutrition. That study will be on every label promoting 'good fats' due to federal law. In other words, people have always 'heard' they were good and had no clue why so they went with the herd.

If someone is eating an equal amount of fat every day and switches from saturated and trans fats to monounsaturated fats their cholesterol profile is likely to improve. That's the case for 'good fats'.

Now, ask yourself this:

Do you have high cholesterol?
Do you eat much fat?

If the answer is no, then adding peanuts into a diet may be more of a detriment. In most cases it's a wash and depending on personal preference may be a total waste. I like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches but I don't try to put peanut butter in my diet for health reasons.

Oh, and I like Jif extra crunchy.

uh, no corn syrup or other garbage. i think it's fairly inarguable that fresh ground peanuts turned into pb while you're standing there is preferable.

I would argue that. There's plenty of ground for me to stand on and argue it, too.

I prefer Jif. The peanuts used in health food stores are often stale and oxidized. I liken it to canned tomatoes being better than fresh for pasta sauces.

I like my biscuits made with lard instead of shortening, but think shortening sometimes makes a better cookie.

I like butter over margarine for pie crusts.

I use corn syrup for candymaking.

No, but the canned are fresher. Just like Jif is usually fresher than the overpriced **** at health food stores.

For fun and different events. As much as I prefer drinking Scotch with a little bit of water and eating charcuterie, I do try to entertain my gauche acquaintances from time to time with lesser things such as vodka martinis and candied whatevers like pecan brittle and caramel popcorn.

I use vanilla muscle milk, strawberry/banana yogurt, milk, and dry oats. Instead of the two scoops of MM I only use one and it is great.

from a fellow college kid on a budget. just get ON protein, the double rich chocolate taste just like nesquik and with only 1 scoop u get like 20 somethign grams of protein plus alot of other important stuff such as bcaas and glutamine...which i think is a bcaa but w/e. its like 40-45 bucks for a 5lb tub if i remember correctly from amazon, and that should last you a while. and the biggest benefit of ON is that you can mix it with a spoon....dont need to waste so much time mixing it in a blender like everyone else is with all their other stuff
