Has anyone tried it? The book is hilarious.

It works pretty good though. My wife tried it years ago and lost a significant amount.

anyone care to briefly describe what kind of diet is Mr. Lagerfeld on?

The diet is pretty much portion control and calorie limitation, both quite strict. There are a number of rather yummy recipes which might require a personal chef to prepare.

Most of it seems sensible, except the "trace elements" stuff.

The intro is very interesting -- he talks about his first bespoke trips to H&K Paris (which makes its bespoke shirts in France in an operation separate from its UK parent's bespoke), Caraceni, Cifonelli...

What do you mean by "trace elements"? Nutrient deficiencies can contribute to cravings.

Doesn't he drink a lot of diet cola in that?

I can't stand colas and sodas.

http://www.sunrexparis.com/Sunrex.asp "If dieters do feel peckish"”at 1,000 to 1,200 calories a day this is a very real prospect"”they should not despair. 'You can have a little homeopathic granule if you are very hungry,' Lagerfeld says indulgently." The book includes recipes for dishes such as fish soufflé, quail flambé, ham and raspberry mousse, vegetables in aspic, and roast guinea fowl with tarragon. Sounds interesting.

Yup, he encourages the liberal use of artificial sweeteners and diet sodas and discourages exercise because it "runs the risk of making you hungry."

He probably had to get a lot of skin removed given the way he used to look.
