Their stuff is addictive. I have a Roadster Villa d'Este (sp?) coat in storm system synthetic fabric that I love. I also just got a cashmere storm system jacket for over half off retail at their Woodbury Common outlet, and, as the previous poster said, I can't wait for cold weather. Their leather items, even at huge discounts, are still too expensive for me. Sizing is strange. I am an L in Zegna but an XXL in LP.

The quality of the Storm System coats is reputedly very high. That said, many tailors have an extreme disdain for Loro Piana suiting fabrics- one even showed me how, when pulled from either side, a fabric swatch will be permanently wrinkled.

I bought a cashmere and silk pullover and it feels unbelievable. I'd say Loro Piana is good quality and targets only those who can afford even at Bicester village where I go just to feel the luxury.

I got a LP suit (called four seasons). Great fabric and fine fit. Like it a lot. Plan to buy another one

Loro Piana is probably the best name in cashmere, and I think their ready-to-wear quality is very nice. I have dozens of their sweaters/cardigans and a couple of overcoats.
Once I get up the nerve, [that is, I'm not blowing the same amount on annual corporate legal bills] I think I'll invest in one of their custom Vicuna overcoats.

Where can you find a nice selection of LP ready-to-wear pants and shirts to purchase over the internet???

Bought some LP at BG in New York, but can not find a store in Pittsburgh that carries their stuff so the internet is my only option.

The Storm System coats do perform as claimed. Their cashmere items do seem to be about the best. I've found their leather coats to be among the very best.

I love LP. I've got two LP cashmere coats -- one a Horsey coat, the other a long black overcoat -- and they are fantastic. They are both 6 or 8 years old and still look good as new, despite getting alot of wear. The overcoat is particularly comfortable to wear as it's got no shoulder padding -- it's very fluid-feeling. The couple of LP shirts I have got alot of wear but they shrunk (to make them shorter) more than they should have. The one pair of LP slacks I have (that is, actually LP-labeled, not just LP fabric) is very well and nicely made, with good fit. I'd buy more LP, but it's just so damned expensive.... Is it worth the money? Yes, I think it is -- the quality is generally first rate and the designs are classic. In general, you won't be buying something trendy; rather, it's something that will look good decades from now.

I think many of the best LP items never go on sale as they get bought up first. On the other hand, if you're looking to buy steeply discounted LP shirts and some slacks, and lots of sweaters, they're pretty easy to find at Neiman-Marcus during their last call sale.

I save and pay full retail usually. I have 2 of their nylon vests that I love and wear often in the change of season.

Agreed, their sweaters are amazing and rather hip but one must have deep pockets.

Sorry to bring up an old thread. I have a couple of pairs of LP cords that are incredible - the softest, most comfortable cords I own and second only to my better jeans in terms of sheer ruggedness. The richness of the color is excellent as well.

I have one LP dress shirt that fits well (relatively slim) but I'm not convinced it is that well constructed. It's a good shirt, no doubt, but I have some RLPL shirts in similar look/style/price that are buttery soft, seemingly wrinkle proof, fantastically fitting, and just feel better constructed.

I also have some cotton polos that are okay, I like the slim tall fit but they do not strike me as better made than anything else I might own. I got them cheap so...

Loro Piana fabrics are amazing and so are the clothes when they are made by Loro Piana themselves(not by a tailor/vendor). I have shirts that I have been wearing for over 5 years. The 4 pocket Dexter pant are awesome with a nice slim fit. The sweaters are to for for with the suede detailing and horn buttons. My favorite piece I recently got was a navy cashmere bomber hoodie lined in nutria. Loro Piana is nothing but classy and high quality. They buy the best grade cashmere from Mongolia and Northern China and have have an exclusive deal with the Peruvian government to shear Vicuña. The prices are expensive but again, you get what you pay for.

I have been stocking up on both RLPL and LP shirts for a while now in the Bicester outlet. I typically buy both when they are priced at about £70. I don't think you can compare them in the terms you have used though as RLPL are mostly formal/office shirts while LP are leisure/casual shirts. They both have great MOP buttons but that is it.

I suppose I ought to comment on this thread with the benefit of being a few years further down the line compared to my earlier posts in it. The way I shop at Loro Piana is that it's become my go-to shop for summer clothes, especially casual summer clothes. They do some really great chinos, linen trousers, polos, linen shirts, etc, etc. I buy them (mainly) at the outlet, but occasionally at the eye-watering fuller prices too. I just really like the colours, fabrics and fit. Good stuff, and lasts long enough that you don't need to pay the prices all that often.

 

I do have one or two winter items too (storm system jackets, cashmere ties, jumpers, etc) but to be honest, I much prefer their summer collections as they fill a gap I find difficult to plug otherwise in RTW and still at less cost than bespoke.
