its difficult to compare a good bourgogne to a good bordeaux, but I doubt either are worth their asking price when you consider it is usually set to give foreigners the impression it tastes better, oh yes its so expensive it must be better, think roederer crystal rosé champagne as the PRIME example of this. I personally recommend a slightly lesser bourgone if thats your taste, but for impression purposes a romanée is "the best". Sometimes its more of offering aname to procure pleasure especially for those who dont really know much on wine (like me) to please ourself. I once offered a very very nice bottle of savoyan vin de paille wich is something of a grail in France to some of my american friends and they drank it like it was basic table wine. when I presented a very mediocre bordeaux they were in awe as they recognized the label. in that sense I was still pleased to offer them this and by their reaction as they really did think it was better and were happy to enjoy it.
