Watches - Page 2

I had a watch thing going for a while, and also discovered pmwf.com

They're a good bunch of guys. They like the Seikos, Hamiltons, etc. previously mentioned, but they are also into Orient, especially the "Beast", a bodacious diving watch. I have a couple of Orients, including an orange Beast, and they are my favorites. They are great quality auto-winding watches that you can find for $100. Search for them on Ebay and you'll see a lot of different styles. Orient makes the movements for Movado and some other brands. They are owned by Seiko, and a are big deal in Japan.

They also like the Invicta homage to the Submariner, in the same price range. I have one, and it's really nice, but I'm a little sour on homage watches.

Recently got this Invicta for $100. Naturally, it may not be what everybody is looking for, but it was exactly what I was looking for.

I would second the rec for Hamilton. Get a handwind. Try it on at the mall then buy from GLOOKS. Or look into Ollech and Wajs; Westcoastime is very responsive though I haven't purchased from him. You can get a watch with Swiss guts (ETA movement) for a song.

+1 on the PMWF store. Got a Seiko 5 from them for $60; very satisfied.

Also, this is a good site if you're looking for something more old-school: http://www.goodwatch.com/wtcrlexg.htm I dig this gold Zodiac from the '60s for $225
