Yes, just go slow. To put them back in heat up insole and shoe and put back in... Nothing should tear.

I just did this and it made a world of a difference. I got a bad blister the first time i wore my ranger mocs because I had a lot of heel slip. I just took the insole out and now there's none! The depth is perfect and they're no longer tight. Thanks a lot icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Yup, I just pulled mine right out. They slipped right back in after.

However, just got a pair of Maine Guide OX DB (10E. I wear 11/10.5 in most shoes) and am a little concerned about the sizing. Length wise, I think they're fine. A little heel slip but from what I gather that's normal/to be expected. If anything they're roomy. Width wise, they do feel a little tight. Certainly tighter than any of my other shoes, though I do mostly wear Clarks, which I've always found to be supremely comfortable.
The width 'problem' is not so much in the toe box, but slightly further back towards the bottom of the toes, if that makes sense? I also find the 'depth' of the shoe to be a bit shallow (as in from sole to top side of toes).
Just wondered, to what extent will they stretch. If they will stretch, how long should I expect? I notice a few pages back someone mentioned that theirs were 'very tight'. I wouldn't go as far as to say that these were 'very tight', but it's certainly noticeable.
I've already worn these once, so I can't return them. However if the width thing will be a problem I'd rather look into selling/trading them now.
Thanks in advance.

Hey I'm the same size as you and have the Maine Guide OXs in 10E as well. They were kinda tight by my small toe and center area but now fit super nice. Still a tiny bit of heel slip but other than that it's perfect. I'd say they fully broke in after 10 wears or so.

Wait, I need to stay with this insole discussion a minute....

People are pulling out the insoles and just standing on the bottom of the shoe...with no insole? Is this good for the feet, or for the life of the shoe?

My ranger mocs are a touch small and the removal of the insole may make them fit.

The insole does not help that much.... if you look at the bottom of the insole very minimal support that would flaten over time.

On mine there was a leather liner and then a blue foam insole. After some playing around I found standing directly on the blue insole and taking out the leather liner made everything fit perfect. I'm gonna go out and see if I can find a really thin insole somewhere... Will report back

Also any kind of oil or spray I should put on my ranger mocs?

Ive replaced the insoles in one pair of main guides + anglers mocs with removable leather insoles bought at the cobbler. In another pair of main guides I removed the original foam padding (beneath the orignal leather insole), and replaced it with a new, better fitting one at the cobbler. Will however just put removable insoles in them.

If I didnt need the arch support, id probably just walk on the leather footbed.

For expensive shoes, they sure have shitty insole construction.

I dont need the arch support, I just found it a little uncomfortable with no padding. I'll have to see how they turn out once I break them in

Well look at it this way... Sperrys have shit for insoles and most you buy go flat anyway. Yuketen makes certain models shallow. The country range moc and Range moc... fit awesome.... The oxford boots and oxfords are shallow in my opinion. Which once the insole is out you should be good to go. I would advise to wear the shoes for a week with the insoles in. Then see how they feel. I would wear them everyday mind you for that week. If they have not stretched out, take out the insole.

Also I buy no shoes that have to break in... I think that is ridiculous.... but it is my opnion. That is one reason I cannot wear Redwings...... The only shoes you should buy a tad smaller are loafers and there is no way to tighten once worn.

As far as spray, Ryan from Yuketen recommends the leather cleaner for cars.... Lexol... but after 6months of wear... unless you are beating the shit out of them.... You can call to confim... super nice guy to talk to.

Thing is, I got a deal on them, but theyre a tad too small. They didn't really fit with the insoles in haha... They fit like a charm now though, but they also stretched and loosened up quite a bit. I really noticed it by the end of the day today. Also, thanks for the spray recomedation. I really wanna beat the shit out of these, I think theyll look pretty cool once they have some wear haha. I just don't want to damage the leather. I'll treat them when the time comes.

Thing is you can always put the insoles back in... When they get to roomy.
