Yuketen Footwear - Page 8

I tried emailing the people from meg a few times last year and earlier this year and got no response.

+1 on the emailing. I contacted them about the tie oxford over a year ago and no response.

I got a quote on the Tie Oxford and it's circa $1000. It's a moccasin made of Horween shell cordovan although it has a welted sole. This type of construction, where the foot is "wrapped" in the material the upper is made out of uses a lot more cordovan than, for instance, an Alden wingtip . In addition there is an up-charge for any color other than #8 since blemish free shells must be used. Thus the expense. One of these days however, they will still be mine.

$1000 for those? lol wut!

Unfortunately yes....Edward Green territory. I guess that that is also a Japanese retail price so the mark-up is huge. Still....I'm amazed they can actually get non-#8 shell. That's a lot of the attraction for me. If they can get it why can't Alden?

They require more quantities of it. They actually do get quite a bit, but their production for their catalog models get priority over the custom makeups that stores order.

huh? alden has more than #8 shell.. they have what, revello, black etc?
Black is the same deal as #8....widely available, but the brown shades are much harder to get. Revello now seems to be unavailable and I have only seen the chukka in Cigar which is one of their models I'm not that keen on. Whiskey seems to be almost impossible to find also. Leather sole had the Indy and a wingtip in Cigar but they were only available for purchase in-store. What I really want is a plain-toe Oxford in Revello shell. I saw a boot version in Anatomica in Paris that they had made up a couple of years ago but they didn't have my size. The price was around 650 euros which is not much less than that Yuketen Tie Oxford. Edit: actually I see that Shoemart are expecting a delivery of penny loafers in Revello later this month. Maybe as robin said it is just unavailable for special orders?

Did these really need to be made? http://www.oipolloi.com/store/Yukete...anut-3264.html

Crepe sole driving shoes? Really?

I never got the chukkas either until I saw some pictures of vintage ones on the Lakota.co.jp site. very cool. I have two pair of whiskey shell, but I did pick up some cigar chukkas. Much better looking in person, though the Barrie last is much more old school than the Plaza one that Leathersoul favors.
