C&J Saviles - poor finishing? Please help.

Received my C&J Saviles today and have been really disappointed with the quality of the finishing. Have I simply been spoiled by the excellence that is Edward Green? To be honest, even the finishing of my (Prada) Churchs beaters are better than this.

This is my first pair of C&J's so I am a bit in the dark. I was at the London store a few months ago and obviously the finishing was not as poor as this.

I would like to point out that these are fresh out of the box. I put one shoe on my foot for about 30 seconds (on carpet).

These look like seconds to me but were purchased from a very reputable online dealer, and the transaction itself was excellent. Would appreciate your comments.

You should go bespoke.

Regards.
PS. My smartass reply notwithstanding...I would polish the shoes...and see if some elbow grease can solve the problems. I have usually bought C.J. off GVH so used to little blips.

Wow... Very poor indeed, worst is that - what 3/4" - mark or scratch on the vamp. Not my experience w/ C&J.

I'd return them w/o a thought.

Keep them if you like them & they fit but demand a partial refund on the basis you were sent what are clearly thirds.

I agree. The mark on the rear quarters is also really poor.

I am already in touch with the dealer and he has offered to send out a new pair immediately.

I am already working with the dealer to return the shoes. I had thought about polishing them but had that failed, I would be stuck with brand new 'thirds'.

Thanks for the smartass reply, too

I do own several pairs of bespoke shoes, as I believe do most of the users on MC.

Glad you are returning the shoes, it is the best option. I do not own bespoke shoes, maybe one day I will, but they do look awful nice in pictures....maybe one day i could walk in your shoes.

Those look terrible to me, clearly look like factory rejects and bad ones at that. I have 4 pairs of C&J two normal and two hand-grade and the finnish on the HG's has always been superb.
Defo send those back.

They arrived this morning and have been shipped back this evening. Should have a second pair by Tuesday. I expect they will be much better.

+1, based on my positive experience with a couple of pairs of Handgrades.

I think that these shoes are 'seconds' at best !!
The worst is that you paid a full price for those seconds. You should have paid a 'seconds' price.

Wow, you guys are picky. I'm a bit anal retentive when it comes to details myself, but I wouldn't have even noticed those things.
