norcal Those are indeed some nice looking boots but not for me. I also think with that starting price they will end up beyond the price I am looking to spend.

I'd go for either Chelseas or Chukkas. Perfect for jeans, and also with slacks for a more casual-dressy look. Also, a monk strap with a thicker sole and a more matte vs. high-gloss finish would be quite nice. Go to www.plal.com, and check under the brand Loake. I do not have any first hand experience with them, but they are made in England from decent materials and pretty good construction. They also make some more casual styles that look equally good with jeans or slacks. They are one of the best deals as far as price vs. quality at full retail price. Most are $150-$225 at full retail. Note that on that website, they have a price conversion formula. I think you just divide the price by 7 or 8.

You may want to check out the Tyrwhitt sale, their shoes/boots are made by Loake. I have a pair of the chelsea boots and they are quite nice.
