The bar is a rather casual place and will have a mixed crowd. Some guys will be in suits from work and others just in jeans and the ladies will be wearing mostly jeans becuase they are the standard now and have replaced the black dress.

we the available information, if it were me I would wear a suit without a tie, black boots and a dark blue shirt. that way, you won't be either under or over dressed, you will look a little masculine, well organized, but still not to businesslike. good luck

Go with whatever you feel comfortable wearing. You'll be and feel more confident. BTW, just because she is graduating in management doesn't mean that she wants a guy in a suit. Sometimes, it's the opposite. So don't try any doublethink. Personally, I would wear dark jeans, distressed leather shoes or boots and a well fitting long sleeve top in a subtle but not boring color (saw a perfect one - a sort of button up funnel neck by Armani Black Label a while back at Maxfield). And a casual jacket (a duffle, maybe) over that. A good belt is key. The look is clean, and says that you are there to get to know her, not try to impress her with your great clothes, while at the same time making it obvious that you are presentable and not a complete schlub.

Don't try too hard - drink way too much - talk about yourself all evening - hit on the waitress or bartender - try and get her in a jacuzzi by the end of the night. Oh wait - that's the show "Blind Date." I like the jeans and sport coat (not too structured) - but maybe instead of a white shirt, try a full or quarter zip cashmere sweater under the sport coat - something soft so she'll want to touch you Don't wear a suit - you'll look like a guy coming from work who just took off his tie. Mainly - ask about her and listen - she may not even notice your clothes if you do that. Bradford

I really think they ought to bring back the black dress.

I agree. I am sick of the low rise jeans, heels, and tank top.

I personally think white pants are highly underrated for ladies

Only in the driving rain.

Whoever invented those tight white (especially linen) pants for women deserves the Nobel Prize.

I went with jeans, white buttown down, black shoes, and a black sportcoat. She said she liked the cologne I had on, so that was nice. She had jeans and a nice cashmere sweater on and I don't think it was cheap. She is smart, cute, and a Democrat. Does it get any better?
