Meant the leather - thanks although hot sure what you mean by NOS.

Amongst my umbrella collection I have two solid stick Briggs in stripped cherry and bark chestnut that have sheltered me against many a downpour here on the south coast of England....
NOS means new old stock:cheers:

great collection. I only have one brigg, and others are all magilia and talarico

So I picked up these two umbrellas and a cane from an online estate sale. Hoping to get some information. Umbrellas seem to be a brigg and an older women’s Burberry. No identification on the cane. AAAC leads me to believe this may be an older British walking cane. I appreciate any info as I plan to keep the umbrellas for me and my wife. Willing to part with the cane if someone collects to find it a good home and perhaps help pay for the umbrellas.

Anyone ever seen a Talarico or Francesco Maglia umbrella with a solid stick shaft but also matching hollow wood tubing that covers the black metal ribbing under the canopy from the shaft to the metal tip? I picked up an umbrella at the Paul Stuart sale this morning - olive paisley with a horn-tip at the end of the shaft. Retail was $550 - the tag on the canopy says made in Italy although I'm not sure if that's just the canopy or the entire umbrella.

From your photos this is known in French as a ''parapluie de berger'' or shepherds umbrella, the idea being that the wooden ribs would prevent the umbrella attracting lightning. examples here: https://www.pyrenees-e-shop.com/objets-de-memoire-et-sacs-vintage/

Your version is more of a mix of that traditional country style with city elements. Lovely brolly.

Looks like some rough weather for me over the next few days in Brighton. I’ve brought a Brigg golf brolly to the office today and hope it will stand up to the forecast gales and heavy rain this afternoon and evening. Also have a waterproof mac and fedora in case it’s too wild to risk the Brigg...

Just ordered this from Noah during their Memorial Day sale:
Noah x Fox Umbrellas Reflective Maple Umbrella
Noah x Fox Umbrellas Reflective Maple Umbrella

Maple with a reflective canopy. I really like reflective stuff for walking the kids home from school. Hope I don't lose it. Fear of that has kept me from getting a nice umbrella. But I've managed to not lose my current $10 one for about 15 yrs.

Back in the office now after working from home and looks like I may have to deal with real storm conditions tomorrow. Could be a day for Burberry trench, long boots and a good sturdy brolly for my 20-25 minute walk to work in Brighton. Will decide in the morning when I see how bad it is......

Battled my way to the office under my Brigg golf brolly on Tuesday morning in heavy rain and 40-45mph winds. Needed to hang on tight with both hands but the brolly held up against those conditions. Later in the day we had 60mph gusts but the rain had passed by then - not sure I could have kept the Brigg under control in that wind....!
