Saw Gackt wearing a pair very similar to this (but a smoke tint) on a New Years game show a couple weeks ago. I say go for it.

I really like the idea of a denim motorcycle jacket, mostly because i really dig the style but don't want leather (I'm attempting to live a more animal-friendly lifestyle) or to downgrade to faux leather. Yikes a $45 motorcycle jacket?! I wouldnt want to be caught in an accident with that on. Thing would probably explode. Also if you were wearing it casually without the armor its probably gonna fit like dick and or come off making you look like a tool.

I think anything that takes a purpose-styled item like riding gear and changes the material or primary elements of it (leather) without reinterpreting it is a major fail from a fashion point of view. 'Gear' (cold-weather, sailing, riding, horsey-stuff) as opposed to everyday garments are purpose-driven first, stylish second. That jacket is a travesty of design, taste, and defeats any statement of purpose. That said, if it's armored, it's a no-go, though armor is always removable. True riding gear is cut differently for armor and riding position (though that jacket doesn't look it). Plus, denim is like tissue paper under crash-abrasion conditions, so that makes the jacket even more ghey, as any real rider knows this point.
