its a pity they dont fit. I would have said yes to the short + jacket combo. Jacket alone, not so interesting imho

I've made my hill to die on. NN should burn the jacket and buy these shorts.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Thinking of purchasing this and sizing up one for a loose, relaxing, summery fit. If I did, what shoes would go well? Birks? Low profile trainers?

what is it ?

^Thanks for the input, never noticed that but now that you pointed it out it does look kinda of awkward.

More of a "should I keep".

What kind of pants work with black suede derbys?

Got these Heschung x Comme des Garcons from Yoox.

I like them, but for some reason I find them a bit hard to pair with other stuff, especially pants.

They look great with a pair of charcoal Ann D ramie pants I have, maybe because of similar color and texture.

Maybe khaki/brown/black cotton/linen pants? Navy pants looked a bit off. Is it the dark suede and contrast sole that make them diffucult?

Would also appreciate input on the shoes themselves.

Worn with Dries chinos in the pics.

Conceptionist, I think the very contrasting sole makes them difficult if anything. You can get a cobbler (or diy) to darken it. Apart from that I would imagine they´d look good with most black trousers.

i think they'd actually be really good worn sockless/with no shows, and with dark cropped pants during the warmer months.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, the contrasting sole pops.

My thought was to wear them as summer derbies and most of my pants for the season are cropped. Haven't tried them sockless but will do now for sure.

Thinking something along the lines of looks from SS collections from CdG Shirt or Margaret Howell, which is the direction my style has been going lately.

I think they'd look really good with a wide, workwear-esque silhouette, but I admit I'm having trouble seeing them with your more modern, semi-technical clothes. I am really not a derby person, though.
