As an owner of the second piece, I'd recommend trying it on if you can. Fit is rather large on that--even boxier than usual for EG.

I actually already have it in a different color. shog[1].gif

I may have gotten it darted in the back to mitigate some of the boxiness. peepwall[1].gif

As a relative latecomer to the ToJ party, I've been agonizing over biting the bullet on one of their jackets for a while now, hyper-aware that the long-rumoured cut-off could come down at any moment. So I was finally prepped to go and make an order on a brown lamb A-2...

...when I came across another piece to give me a dilemma.

The competition is a 70's style cafe moto from Edwin's collab with Stewart Italia:

Now I know the comparison is not like for like as they're very different jackets but the situation has arisen from the combination of limited funds and the need for expediency so it's a case of either-or; one or the other but not both.

As far as I see it, in favour of the ToJ, I love the concept of their business, the testimonials are all effusive in their praise so they seems like a sure bet quality-wise and assuming I put the order in correctly, I can guarantee the fit I want. I really like their interpretations of such classic silhouettes, and everything is ultra-clean.

However, the Edwin also has plenty to say for itself. It's a handmade garment in the true sense- cut and assembled by hand and it's one of only 25 pieces (so I'm told). I've seen it in the flesh and it's easily one of the nicest/best quality jackets I've ever seen- super thick italian horsehide which felt absolutely incredible. As such, it's probably liable to hold a longer lifespan than the ToJ and might therefore be a better investment.I guess it's more of a classic jacket where the ToJ is possibly more fashionable and maybe a little more stylish. There's no chance of getting both at this stage- my reasoning is that the Edwin won't be available for long but if I get it, ToJ is likely to have wound down before I have funds again.

What's the verdict guys?

After like 10 months of wait you might finally receive your jacket? I don't love the concept of their business anymore. No new designs for a long time and too much waiting in my opinion. When I bought mine it was just 3 to 4 weeks.

Edwin's collab with Stewart Italia looks great even though I don't like brown. Isn't it like 1500€?

That TBS pic of the Raf dip dye doesn't look so great. However, they had posted a really good pic of it on their Tumblr.

The Acne dip dye looks really nice but it has raglan sleeves which is a deal breaker for me

Yeah, I'm also not a fan of the stitching on the front by the neck opening. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

DAMN! If I would of seen the Raf captured like that I would of bought it, and of course its now sold out in M.

The Acne is more of a casual sweater which I''ll just be wearing with a pair of any colored pants/jeans and white shoes. I don't know if it would look good under a coat maybe a hoodie.

Are those the ones that fade darker?

Maybe. They say the black weft will pop out with wear.
