Out of the 4, what would you go for?

Walkover is goodyear welted and made in USA, pretty solid at the $100-$200 range.

If you are getting Paul Smith might as well get the John Lobb x Paul Smith

So I've been looking for a modern-cut, single-breast, mid-length trench/duster coat for a while now and haven't been able to find anything that matches the image I have in my mind.  A few in the Burberry 'Brit' line come close, but I don't think i want to spend that much for something that likely won't see much wear.  In doing a Google image search, I came across this on DHGate.  For $40, I'm tempted to get it -- even if the fabric isn't great, the cut is almost exactly what I was looking for.

Thoughts?  Is this a knock-off of some other brand, and if so, which one?

it's a $40 trench coat dude. it's gonna be awful

yeah.

Also, I know you say that the cut is exactly what you're looking for, but pretty soon you're going to realise how weird it is to have a short trench like that with a belt. It looks very long-torso-ed. And not in an interesting way.

Yah, I'd be taking the belt off, no doubt there.  And I realize the quality's probably horrid.  I guess I'm more looking for alternatives that fit between $600 Burberry and $40 NoName....

Just get the Deus Ex Trenchcoat.

there's probably something at Jcrew or Uniqlo.

Less obvious, I would check out Cos and Albam.

Do you think I need a wool peacoat in LA area in the fall and winter ? I guess not, but I've always wanted one...

Go for it. Worst case scenario- you wear your peacoat only in your room with the air conditioning on full blast as friends puncture feather pillows above your head to simulate snow

Buy it now. It'll be on sale like 60% off.

Don't you ever travel during the winter? Boom. Justification.

I don't wear as much work-styled stuff as I used to, but I always love my Post Overalls stuff.
