Should I or shouldn't I buy... (clothing item)? - Page 2138

I need a spring sweater/cardigan/knit and was considering the following:

Yes/no and what color.

My other option is to get this black cardigan from Stephan Schneider

or the following, but I generally find that such "lively" pieces don't go with the style I'm trying to pull off.

My wardrobe is a lot of black, navy, gray, charcoal, and white, and I like to keep it very plain and 'boring'.

I prefer the second Schneider to the Ervells. A lot of Ervell usually makes it pretty deep into sales, so I generally never pay close to retail for his stuff

I'm in bad need of a cool blazer I can wear either to work or out to a nice dinner with a lady person.

Should I or Shouldn't I buy this Shipley and Halmos blazer and have it tailored real trim.

Or possibly this Jcrew and also have it tailored real trim.

Or suggest something else.

They're very different silhouettes, so it depends on the overall look you're going for. SH = shorter length, higher button stance, overall more dramatic cut. That's the one I see crossing over better into "fun time." Also, the SH blazer is already quite trim, perhaps enough to warrant sizing up one if you're in between sizes (as was the case when I bought mine).

Haven't tried the J Crew in person, but from the site the proportions seem more genteel, less aggressive. Longer coat length, lower button stance, softer shoulders, etc.

If you're a younger dude and your aim is a "cool blazer," SH will be the way to go.

Trying to up my shoe game again. Used to post here under a different screen name, totally forgot it lol. I was more into workwear then and rocked alden chukkas. Looking for more of a casual tropical city look. Jeans/pants with sneakers and a short sleeve printed button up. Cool florals, etc. thinking the mmm gats and cp acchilles would be about the most appropriate sneakers. Any other recommendations?

From your outfits, the shores you swim through seem to be more of the gloomy New England variety. I travel through Central America and Miami a great deal, so sunny tropical vibes - without going tommy Bahama - is far more appropriate than red wings and j crew. I was vague though, I'll give you that. I'd say I'm looking for a mix between the typical TOJ/John coppidge look and A more fashioney Johnny depp in "blow". A hipster Pablo Escobar, if you will.
