yes/no?

I don't like the stitching. I remember you had a cool leather jacket and the ragland sleeves and the x at the neck would bring that jacket down to some collegiate-esque fit.

How're the quality of these (or more generally are they worth it)?

If I'm 42 in gats (with a little room lengthwise but none widthwise), would 41 fit?

You're a 41.

The quality is excellent for what they are but the soles are glued on.  The leather is super supple and they feel like wearing slippers.  I'm not sure I would pay the yoox price for them, but under $500 I think they're worth it.  I have the gold version (the gold has pretty much come off by now).

great thanks. guess I'll try to be patient and catch a sale. patience is such a bitch (and a virtue)

I found something called a mariner jacket in Brooks Brothers' winter clearance.

Water repellent mariner jacket made with cotton. Detachable snap-off hood. Contrasting orange piping. Lined at top half with blue and white striped linen and with cotton on bottom half. Self elbow patches for durability. Side entry pockets. Dry clean. Imported.

That's all I have to go on.  No clue what a 'mariner' jacket is and google isn't helping much.

I think this looks pretty versatile, but I'm not sure.  I want a general purpose light jacket that will work against rain year-round but won't look odd when the skies are clear.  Does this fit the bill, or is it too much of a rain jacket?

Doubt it would look too much like a raincoat, and mariner jacket is probably just their term, not a classification of jacket. Since it's got some linen lining, it's probably meant as a spring/summer jacket, and at 100% cotton with no immediately apparent fabric treatment, won't keep the rain off you very long.
