My CDW italian vest is size M, and I'm a 42 chest--I can wear it over a normal sweater/sweatshirt but it's trim; I could never do the #menswear over jacket thing with it.

Ok, thanks. I'm going to guess xxs would work over shirts/sweatshirts but not over blazers. For anyone interested they're on eBay. Will post link when I'm not on my phone.

Now the real question is whether the size small one shoreman posted will be too big over a size small eg Bedford.

mkey, true to size if you want to fit it over shit, size down one if you want to wear with sweaters and other shit

i'm normally a large and medium fits me perfect, though be careful if you buy it for over a jacket you're really limiting its use

yes on that paragon stark

cdw down shirt is dope, tried that on a few years ago and it's good, i believe you stay with your normal size on that and just get the regular version not indigo...i remember that shit used to be so cheap

If I'm a 38" chest (ish), sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less, can I get away with a large in the Paragon at about 20" chest? Or will this look ridiculous?

 

UM recommended medium, but that's gone, so I'm trying to figure out if I'm OK with another size...

thx for the sizing advice, appreciate it, but i'm going to pass. don't particularly like that one, would much prefer buttons, and i'd only be buying it because it's cheap. what i really want is this one: http://www.styleforum.net/t/311280/fs-engineered-garments-down-vest-hoodie-navy-xs or this one: http://www.southwillard.com/collections/fall-2012/crescent-down-works-for-south-willard/wool-6040-italian-vest. settling will just make me sad.
