I haven't handled this version of MMM highs before. Anyone have experience? I seem to remember reading that they look cheaper than say the distressed version.

I have black mids that come from one of the seasons with nice leather, but I have always wanted to get highs when I found them...

I have the sand brown distressed version and they are quite quite nice if those are <400 I say jump on em.

I think that #menswear can be good if properly executed and not full of mangles

I wouldn't get them. The detailing is not the same as the original. It really looks quite off to me, not good at all.

When you're buying fashion brands there's gonna be a little trade-off in terms of quality, that's fine.
However, some of the recent margielas have been very, very poor quality and ridiculously inflated price. It's shocking to me to see how much they've cashed in on hype.

Some of the things i've noticed about them:
shitty upper leather
glued soles
cardboard or some type of fibreboard insoles
really really thin soles (although this is part of the design so not really an issue).

Keep in mind i'm a bit of a shoe nerd so I like a lot of shoes for historical/construction reasons in the same way that denim nerds like raw japanese selvedge stitched by himalayan monkeys, when APC NS have inferior quality but are still fine and the styling/cut is more important for most people.

Again, value is relative so if you like them then that's great.

That's because the line turned to garbage starting spring 2010.

Have you ever been to Macau? Quality manufacturing processes are not exclusive to certain regions of the world. There are plenty of good products coming from Asia, APC denim included. Whether APC's are worth the current price tag is another story, but there are few offerings under $200 which offer good cuts, minimalistic design and long lasting denim like APC.

"Quality" is a word that gets thrown around often but in a lot of cases it's subjective. I think it's bullshit when people say "zomg don't buy x-brand, teh quality so shitty!11!" yet they don't cite specific reasons for their claims.
