If they wore a properly fitting , somewhat traditionally correct tux, most people look great in tuxedos.

That kind of tailoring with the 1 button and some type of waist covering is fairly universally flattering when done right. It does seem a bit weird that everyone dresses the same but there's a bit of charm in uniform when done right.

Also, there's nothing wrong with doing something because of a sense of tradition and formality, that's just culture. It's also about respecting those traditions which may still mean things to people.

Re: Tux talk

My wedding is in June and im just wearing a Navy Blue Wool Suit, with a silver Macclesfield Tie and Black Captoe Oxfords, white linen pocketsquare, white poplin hidden placket shirt

I am getting married @ 1030 in the morning though, do people in the US wear a tuxedo even if the wedding is during the day? My english sensibilities say only wear @ night.

Wouldn't English sensibilities demand a morning suit?! Or at least provide the opportunity for one. People in the US wear whatever they want. Tuxes all day, suits, whatever. Mine was in the late afternoon, wore dark gray SB peak lapel with waistcoat, white shirt, PoW tie, black captoes.

No one wears morning coats anymore, unless your super-english.

Ive seen one once and it was a cream satin morning coat worn by a Korean guy @ a wedding, he had gloves and im pretty sure there was some rhinestones somewhere too.

FWIW yesterday I noticed that he was logged on and viewing SW. Maybe he'll grace us with posting again.
