I need a good winter jacket for the New England winter. All I have right now are pea coats which suck when they get wet. What do you guys think about this RRL parka from Farinelli's?

listen to mauro; this is an obvious choice especially at the pricepoint. it's listed as sold out anyway.

Yeah, I was about to buy it. But he said its kind of a long jacket and I am short. He said I would look like Kenny from South Park in it

So I decided to pass. The hunt continues for a good winter coat. Is there a thread for that yet?

I just don't really "get" Moncler. What is it that makes their polyester so much more expensive than everyone else's? It's not like they're doing anything fancy or with amazing details, it's a down jacket. (Though the other stuff from Gamme Bleu is pretty hot ****, albeit stupidly priced)

I could do with a winter coat and this is reasonably priced. Not sure how true the color is in the picture above, it's specified as "khaki" in the description (so, it could possibly be more similar to this)

I like it in a way, just not sure how well it would work with the stuff I have and what I plan/hope to get in the future. I will likely need to get a coat in the coming month so I guess it sort of comes down to price this time..

It's from 04, so you'll have to luck out on auction sites. The one I posted would be way too small for you (actually, one of the reasons why I'm holding off is because it might be just about too small for comfort for me as well). The DB one I posted the link to for comparison is one size bigger - I can send you that link if you're interested, but I'm not sure if that would fit you either. Plus it's 4x more expensive, the one I might get is like 90% or more off original retail.

A little concerned about the height of the shaft (that's what it's called, right?) and the leather quality looks a little suspect from the picture.
