Fair enough, they could have been fakes or a cheap line, but who knows. The polos and sneakers at my local lacoste boutique are pretty nice though and certainly don't smell of petroleum, they are better than nike/adidas/puma stuff and are designed much nicer. As for being synthetic lined, I don't think thats a sure sign of bad quality, there are many decent synthetic fibers out there and technical garments swear by them. That jil sander cardigan is awesome, very similar colour to a Dior Homme cardigan I saw at Assin a little while back, might be worth looking into if you're unsure on the jil sander.

I'm looking for some slim light grey slacks like these from Wings + Horns (but they're $300) Are there good easily available alternatives? Can't really afford these, but they're so tempting!

I tried on some darker gray slacks at HM, and I loved the fit (not too tight, not too loose). However, they had flap backpockets which I hate, and a side cinch if I remember correctly, so those unnecessary materials made me return the pants. Otherwise, I recall that they come in gray pinstripe and navy pinstripe.

I was actually thinking of checking h&m out next, thanks... hopefully they work!

Charles Tyrwhitt. They've been worn for 2 years by some other dude. EDIT: It's either these or those BoOxSperry Nylon topsider boots that were posted earlier (I kinda think they're cool now)

^ Nice boots! I wouldn't wear someone elses shoes though, i'd love to break in a new pair myself. Does anyone know the quality on common projects officer ankle boots...? They are being sold here and i think i might be able to get them a bit cheaper than retail. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Common-Projec...3A1|240%3A1318 I know about the tried and true shoe makers, but one cannot just dismiss these without handling them in person. Has anyone had experience with them? They are made in italy... but will this be a shoe that will give me good wear over the years?

I don't think anyone can really answer this question, seeing as these shoes have not even been out for more than a year. However, the general consensus seems to be that you can do better for the price, even on sale.

Ankle boots != sneakers.

My bad, ignore.

Thanks aqhong, i did a search but most of the people haven't handled them in person and just brush them off as they are a sneaker brand... I was wondering if anyone who actually has handled them or own them can testify to their first hand impressions.
