Edit: And as far as the brand goes, did you have any specific questions or just want to know more? Short summary of Richard Chai: Heavily inspired by Kurt Kobain, and considers him one of the best dressed people ever. He once said he tries to design his mens stuff as things he and his friends would actually wear and buy. A lot of his stuff comes in washed and really soft fabrics. He's big on clothes feeling broken in and worn, and also is big on plaids, and patterns. Most of his stuff is minimal, with subtle details in tailoring and construction. One of his biggest goals is to make his stuff very comfortable to wear, hence why a lot of stuff is relaxed, and drapey. Quality was about as good as gets when he first started his line using some insane fabrics and tailoring techniques, but dropped the price a good bit after lackluster sales (only for his mens line). Quality is still very good for the price imho though.

He graduated from Parson's in NYC. He was the main driving force in launching Marc by Marc Jacobs, and was the youngest person ever to head up all the companies at TSE. He's worked with Geoffrey Beene, Donna Karen, Marc Jacobs, and Alber Elbaz.

Oh, and his brother owns the clothing store Odin in NYC.

thanks onion this is exactly the kind of response i was looking for. crossing my fingers still.

main concern besides fit was the issue on quality. out of let say, barney coop brands like nice collective, bson, fillippa k, marc by marc and so forth, where does chai fall?

i would assume based on what you say it is at least as soft and good as fillippa and nice collective. as i consider them to be pretty decent quality.

bson is middling to low and i hope it is not like american apparel or urban outfitters stuff.

but you say it's good quality and i se eyou are a big proponent of the brand, and alot of others here too so i figure i could trust it.

Imho quality is better than all of the brands you listed, including Nice Collective.

I want this sweater in the "cocoa" color, can't tell if it's a brownish hue or more blood red. Might go with black though. This sweater.
