I think I'll sno-seal them. I live on Vancouver island and we don't get a harsh winter, just a wet one, so I just need to water proof them, the amount of negotiating ice I have to do is minimal, and use an old pair of hiking boots for that. I only have clarks DBs for boots right now and they're awful in the rain as the crepe sole soaks through super fast.
Also, how was the sizing on them?
I'd say about half a size big. But if you're wearing them as winter boots, you'll be wearing slightly thicker socks so then TTS.
