How many miles did you run today? - Page 635

Snow everywhere except Nashville.  An early 4:15am start yesterday led to no run in the evening.  I feel like I gained a few pounds last night but want to hammer out a few miles tonight.

6.4 miles on the treadmill. 11 inches of snow and single digits.

Got in a little run last night.  Worst part was some hidden standing water in some of the grass I run through at the beginning of my run.  Cold feet!

4.8 this morning. First rainy run of the season, but I hope far from the last. We need the rain! Somehow, my feet stayed mostly dry.

2.4 miles yesterday. Tried out the Inov-8 Oroc's. Worked fairly well on the snow covered roads. Went over ice in places. The spikes don't dig into the ice, but scrape enough to keep your feet from flying out. Will bring them w/ to tomorrow's trail race.
We got about 10-12 inches of snow on Monday / Tuesday. The temp have been in single digits here, so none has really melted.

50K trail race on single track and horse trails Saturday.
Bad news, have to break ground for 10 miles of lots of snow, not sure what size rock is under the snow, may not be following the best line through the sections, feet will be cold and wet.
Good news: Warming up to 20's on race day, 3 loop course means loop 2 & 3 should be much easier after being trampled down, most of the small rocks and scree will be covered. Aid bag every 10 miles to change socks, hat, clothes, shoes, etc.
Won't be setting a PR on the course, but plan to have a lot of fun. Everyone is running in the same conditions, so we'll see how I do.

14.0 miles today, about half on trails. Felt good. Perfect running weather: sunny, T ranged from 35-45F, no wind.

9.1 mile this afternoon. It was about 12º out when I started out and after a couple miles I needed to lower my scarf away from my face. By the time I got home it had frozen stiff and I had to wait in the garage for it to thaw before I could take it off. I enjoy winter, but this one has been looooong.

31 miles today in one of the toughest 50K trail races I've run. The 12" of snow got mashed down with all the runners, but with no melting, it was like running a race over sand dunes. Quads and calf muscles were trashed.

Edit: Close to 50 runners dropped down in distance to 10 or 20 miles. Only 3 50k finishers broke the 6 hr mark. I placed 15th overall. Feeling pretty good about a slow time now.

Congratulations. That's a tremendous feat!

Bit over 18 miles on trails today. Last long run before my first 50k next weekend.

As one might expect, coming off a knee injury, I have not run since the race last Saturday. I am, however, itching to get back into training mode. I'm racing Challenge Penticton (iron-distance triathlon) at the end of August, so I have a new target to shoot for. I'm back in the pool, and I rode about 7 miles today, just to stretch out my legs. If the weather had been better, I might have cruised a bit more.

Nicely done! Running 50k is never easy, let alone in the snow!

The first, and only, 50k I've attempted had similar conditions. At the half way point turn around, my buddy and I both decided to keep running... to the bar instead of turning around.

Saturday, late afternoon, in Ann Arbor in a fairly dense snowfall. 3 miles. Being a college town, there were several runners on the streets. I counted 13.
