2.4 miles this morning. Took your advice Michigan Planner. Had a couple of abandoned / foreclosed properties I wanted to take a look at. Ran there, checked them out, ran home.

Nice job MP. Good to see all the training and work really paid off. How was the course? How was the crowd? What was it like getting around in the course with all the runners?
I don't get the opportunity to run twice a day but when I do, I jump at it. I will use the morning for whatever my training run calls for and then go for a 4-8 mile run in the evening after work when the schedule allows it. For me, it's a good way to make sure I keep my metabolism up in the evening and it's a good extra stress reliever. If your plan calls for repeated long runs without a day off in between, I imagine multiple runs on the same day has about the same effect.
The course is relatively flat but with a few long, drawn out, but not too steep hills. But you feel them. The crowd was amazing. This was my second time running the MCM but when I ran it in 2010 I overslept and missed the official start by more than an hour and by that time, many of the spectators had cleared out everywhere. This time around, I got there plenty early though so that wasn't an issue. The course was pretty tight with runners over the first 6 miles or so, insanely tight in a few of the segments, but after a bit it cleared out... but you are never alone.
Good stuff everyone and great races! I got in 10 miles over the weekend as I was at a wedding and had limited time and energy.
As for 2 a days, I only do those during 1 period throughout the year. I visit slowtwitch.com and they do a 100 runs in 100 days thing from like Dec. 15th - end. I try to throw in doubles whenever I need to catch up. 1-run counts as anything 30min in duration and needs to have 1hr rest in between two runs for it to be a two-run period.
As for training, I have found taking Monday and Friday off help as weekends are usually big run times so the rest is helpful. I would try not to do two-a-days in training unless it was the only time I could get runs in but morning and evening runs from T-Thurs could weigh on you pretty heavily I'd imagine.
I've seen that pile of rocks! From the air at least... I've flown into PHX a few times.
I just finished 6 miles on trails today. Beautiful Autumn weather (or at least what passes for fall weather here in Northern California)!
