I got in 8.3 miles yesterday morning and 19.8 miles today. Part of my Father's Day gift was being able to sleep in and
go for a lunch run. Usually, if I want a run of that length I need to get up and be out the door before 5:00 a.m. Today I didn't hit the road until just before 8:00 a.m.
The Crim Race is a lot of fun and is well organized. It is unique to start and end a race on brick pavement! The race course goes through the UM-Flint campus, Carriage Town (the historical district), and through some of Flint's gorgeous neighborhoods. (In spite of the woes of that city, there are, still, some great neighborhoods.) The race has a strong, long tradition behind it. Many have been in it for over 30 years. There are hills! All along the route, there is crowd support, jazz bands, marching bands, polka bands, lawn sprinklers aimed at the street, etc...
Today, after a two hour leg/hip therapy (torture!) session, I ran 3 miles at an 8 minute pace.Edited by clarinetplayer - 6/18/13 at 3:41am
